Re: WP for the first time ever

wow... you asked? the person in the seat? not staff in the lounge or check-in? the person in their allocated seat?

well,, there's a "pecking order" that needs to be adhered to..

Re: WP for the first time ever

As a man, I would not give up my seat even if the person asking is a WP1.

If I was a woman, I still would not up my seat even if the person asking is a WP1.

i was always taught to give my seat up for a lady

Re: WP for the first time ever

I'm not sure that gold has been "enhanced" at all. From where I sit, it appears that the WP value proposition has been slightly eroded by the increase in Gold benefits over the past couple of years.
And in say 5 years time when Gold benefits have been slightly increased some more and Platinum benefits have been slightly eroded some more and there is no difference between Platinum and Gold benefits would it be negative to say, "We did not see that coming!"?

When BA managed to offload me from my QF flight home I was moved to 20F. My preferred seat was allocated to someone else. A quick call to the P1 team had me back in my preferred seat. :)

Sounds pathetic doesn't it? If you are an occasional flyer it is baffling that a seat can be so important, but when you do this week in week out it means everything. :)

Right instead of this split personality you have going where you seem to switch genders at will, would you like to clarify once and for all which gender you belong to?

In return, I promise the next WP1 or higher that asks me to swap seats for no particular reason other than "I want to sit there" will get a positive response.

Re: WP for the first time ever

Isn't the answer obvious?? S/he couldn't afford it especially only slumming it in 11F ;) S/he couldn't even get a seat in the single digit.
FYI , I usually travel J, no single digit J seats on A380.

And this is what I normally would have done, but for the late change and the WP having already checked in online or something, so I had no choice but to ask them direct, unfortunately they were quiet rude and said no.

Can you let me know your travels schedule on the off chance i might have to take the offer up. :p

As an aside do you get seats worth nabbing? :p

At least they were quiet :)

I'm just going to assume you're committed and somehow gained internet access. Alternatively, you have somehow avoided the loony-bin over the years.

No.. they were quite polite,, rude would've contained some adjectives telling you where to go..

Tony a couple of questions if I may:
I am not Tony but....

Do you think that there has been an increase in WP's and if so are you aware of any evidence to support this?
I think there has been an increase in numbers of Platinums but unless Qantas releases the figures there would not be any evidence.

Do you think QF should have a QF metal SC minimum for WP as it does for P1 thus removing the opportunity to become WP with 4 red-e deals SYD-MEL and a couple of $500 KUPP's?
I think there should be a minimum requirement of 8 squiggles per year, possibly 16 squiggles per year, and I also believe qualification level should increase to 2,000 attain and 1,600 to retain. If you also want to set a minimum number of Qantas SCs as well then I would not object.

Now I know that statement may contradict my statement on benefits eroding but they are 2 entirely separate things. I have always held the belief that Qantas Platinum is way too easy to attain. Especially where you can almost earn it with a return KUPP in the USA.

Haven't flown domestic as a silver yet so I'm not sure - although the occasional exit row shows up. Can be found anywhere from row 10 back, usually...

You're always welcome to whatever the orange tail gives me though!!

8 or 16?? let's make it 20,,, that way I can be a WP now instead of SG and still looking at 10 or so more flights to get to WP..

Re: WP for the first time ever

(If the flight had been full, would you have also expected them to be offloaded to accommodate you? ;))

Well actually yes, this is something that QF should look at, at SQ if I am wait listed J, they will guarantee me a Y seat on that flight, I would like to see QF extend this so that CL and P1 are guaranteed a J seat, even if it means punting someone off

In my eyes they were rude, but they did get "accidentally" bumped in to a couple of times during the night!

That will teach them for taking my seat!
