Double posting of points and status credits

Had an interesting situation this week.

1) Checked in on an AA flight on a QF codeshare and got a boarding pass.
2) Went to the lounge and asked to be put on an earlier flight. Was put on standby and got a boarding pass at the gate
3) Received points and status credits for both flights. One was discounted economy and the other flexible economy.

Interesting ... in the past QFF would never credit the same sector/city-pair flown on the same date; one would always need to follow up. But I guess my experience was only on QF.

You got lucky. I've done similar and not had this happen so enjoy it as a probable one off and don't query it

Wow! 'DSC' aside, you also managed to get what is effectively a 'fly ahead' benefit while flying Y? Did your status have anything to do with it?

I was on one Emirates flight on the QF code share, flight didn't take off, flight broke down, still got my SCs and points.
Next day flew the same flight on the EK code and got just the points for EK code but no SCs.
Sometimes you get a bonus.

I am OWE which I expect helped. Was 2nd in the standby queue.

AA is usually very accommodating for OWE in my experience.

From time to time when you move flights, you get some sort of credit for the original flight. It doesn't happen often (IME) but does.

Try the same thing again, and it may not credit both..

I'm lucky they moved me as the original flight I was due to take ended up being delayed 3.5 hours which would likely have meant missing my connection and being delayed until the next day in LAX.

My most recent experience of helpful AA staff (AAngels?) was at CLT where I had a quick hop down to ATL to pick up the BA flight to London. Two separate PNRs but I padded the transit to six hours to alleviate problems. Then my operating aircraft gets delayed out of LAS by four hours but, helpfully, the AA app displays the status of the inbound aircraft operating your flight. On arrival at CLT the service desk staff happily changed my CLT-ATL flight to a more helpful time even though I was on a deep discount fare. No double crediting though.
