DJs new 737s, pretty impressive.

Hmm I wonder if my flight from Melbourne to Darwin on December 26 will be on a new 737-800.... I hope so!! I didn't notice the brown button saying "business" like you get when you try to book a east-west coast flight.

Anyway i hope so, because on the return night time flight 6PM-11.30PM in mid January 2012, I am hoping the new J service is in operation between Darwin - Melbourne because I want to try the Luke Mangan dinner :p, just wish there was a reward seat redemption for 6,900 points +$285 (currently only Flexi is available for 6900 points +$185).... LOL sigh, can't have it all can I?

Are you flying DRW-MEL Jan 10? That's the only day from about Jan 6 to Jan 26 that doesn't have a premium reward seat available. Can you change the day you return? By the way, the cost is actually 6,900 + $150 each way.

Anyway, I doubt full business will be on this route by then, given they would be doing the main routes first, between MEL, SYD, BNE, ADL.

The birds on the DRW/MEL route are all refitted ones I believe. Seems that bird goes on to do transcon after flying those routes. (Redeye flights on the weekday service only)

Is this a recent change? I flew DRW - MEL about a month ago and it was not a refurbished plane. Flight MEL-DRW a few days prior was refitted.

Thanks, that is good to know that the refitted 737-800 is flying that route, i wouldnt want to buy a premium ticket only to find it is the old 3 set with the middle one blocked. anyway on the redeye MEL-DRW i found a "premium" reward for 6,900 points + $300 but on the return flight, im out of luck.

The VA Source - Virgin Australia Route Tracker
Nearly 100% hit rate for the new config. A quick stalk shows that bird operates MEL-DRW-PER-BNE/MEL
And I think the ones which are not showing as refitted actually are because they go on to operate the transcontinental routes.

Family flew that route 4 separate occasions , 100% strike rate.

Also, PE on the DRW routes are rather cheap, 600 from memory I believe for quite a long flight.

thanks again, that is good to know! I kinda thought it would be the refitted plane since it is December 26, but i wasn't sure. yeah the DRW-MEL at 18.05PM-11.50PM is a good flight to do PE/J because I look forward to a good dinner.

I think this may belong in this thread.

Just to muddy the waters a bit Pacific Blue (NZ) aircraft and crew will be operating AUS domestic sectors during NOV & DEC to cover surging passenger numbers.

On the other side of the coin NZ will do some of PB's trans-tasman sectors.

By the end of the year all 737-800's will have been re-fitted. Very high chance indeed :)

Then my favorite E-190s! I think the rumored 2-1 Business class configuration will be very popular. I suspect the entire fleet (737-800,737-700,E-190) will be refitted by early next year, or at least before May.

If Advance Seat Selection shows only 2 rows of Premium Economy rather than 3 would that suggest that a flight is on a refitted 737??

No. They haven't sold 3 rows of PE for months (might have even been back to last year). Row 3 is sold as economy with 6 seats.

To tell if it's refitted or BSI there is no middle seat showing in Premium (whereas on a non-refit it shows N/A). Also there is a bulkhead shown on the left of the cabin which is not shown on the non-refits. Finally, in economy the exit rows are numbered a row further forward with the new configuration, as effectively a row has been removed up the front.

Damn I was getting my hopes up. I didn't realise that about row 3. Good to know that the Advance Seat Selection does provide some hints if you are flying a refit. Seems I'm missing out again, have yet to try out the rebranded hard product.

It won't be long before all the aircraft are done so you should be bound to get one sooner or later!

A comment a few days ago on the forum mentioned what the "rope" from the BSI's look like.
each end has a magnet which attaches to either side.

Also here is the coat hanging space behind J class for J class guests coats

Looks smart, unobtrusive, and still allows the cabin to flow - thanks for the pictures mate :)

+1 to that actually.

I'd hope they put some sort of cover over the coat hanger. Metal ones like that, carrying a heavy suit jacket can damage it and leave marks inside.
