Managed to land YFC on todays flight with the new interior, there are now a few of the aircraft in Virgin Australia's fleet with the Boeing "SKY" interior, and its pretty impressive:

And then there is Row 3, WOW:

Just in case you are wondering what the lockers and overhead controls look like:

+1 Love it!

Surely row 3 HAS to be something like Virgin America's 'Main Cabin Select', it looks like it has even more legroom than business!

Is that the Virgin logo on the seats? Doesn't appear on all of them, from the angle of the photo.

The only problem is trying to get on one of the newbies!

I heard the third BSI aircraft will commence ops next weekend. Lets hope they will start to get a move on with giving the rest of the fleet the treatment, or at least the "rogue's".

And these great-looking aircraft are the ones which Qantas is talking about not buying as it tries to reign in its costs, so instead they will keep the older ones flying longer? That really would hand a competitive advantage to Virgin Australia!

Its a very nice aircraft. Look forward to seeing more of them in the fleet.

On that note, does anybody know is any of the existing aircraft have gone in for a refit yet? I understand they aren't all getting BSI, but they should be re-painted, and fitted with the new seats and J class.

Do we know some sort of timeframe when this will be implemented?

My understanding is that VA will have a total of 20 aircraft in the new livery by the end of the year which as far as I know includes the new aircraft that have been
delivered already and those on order scheduled for delivery this year,I also believe that the interior refit of the older aircraft will begin in October.
Cheers
N'oz
BTW the next new 738,VH-YVA was delivered this week,it has been named Eurong Beach,it's a 737-8FE ,not sure if it has BSI,I don't think so
but could be wrong.

Well in fact if Virgin have 78 737's it will take sometime before the interiors are refitted.
Qantas in fact are ordering new 737's, and seem to have only cancelled 6.
So I don't feel that Virgin are getting that much advantage.

Has the partition between Y and J been fixed yet or is it still partial?

The partition is clearly visible in the Row 3 shot so I am not sure what the definition of partial is in the context of your question, its certainly rigid and takes up the whole row in terms of size!

And here is the obligatory foot shot!

Here is the view from the front of the new seats in Row 1.

Is there IFE on the BSI aircraft or is it yet to be installed?

No IFE on the new aircraft, its coming soon apparently and most guess it will be a derivative of Red! So I got to look out the window at planes going the other way!

Sorry I wasn't clear enough. Has it been extended to go from floor to ceiling yet? Can't tell in the photo in which it appears.

It was noted by a DJ staffer that they were looking at this, but as I read you say it is still missing IFE so just another hybrid layout not yet so still not the final solution.....!

Guess we'll have to wait a bit longer :)

No, still partial which I like, here is a different shot:

If you look at the shot, you can see if it was to the roof, the door bins would need a redesign - not worth it. At least until a major reconfig.

An interesting race now, to see who wants to refit (or retire) faster than the other...

(Below compares "the tired old" at Qantas [B734 without any form of barrier between J & Y], now that we are seeing "the spankingly new" at Virgin.)
