What a mammoth run that is.

I can't wait to graduate and get a job so I can actually get a credit card and earn more points LOL!

Ah I see, I was thinking that J was sold on the codeshare which by the sounds of it is not the case. Also explains why the TW QF sh!ts itself if you search for J...

There are some good deals to be had flying in First TPE-HKG-SYD too.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

True. How about a couple of nights in Cairns? PER-xBNE-CNS-xSYD-PER (or similar) for 72k + $345 and giving a mammoth 600 SC if you have the DSC offer. Enough to retain SG in one hit.

I may have this wrong but as immatures ff year end is 30 June wouldn't the SCs reset to zero on 01 Jul therefore any SC earned over 200 would go down the drain?

A catch 22 situation as the DSC ends 30 June 2012.

Imagine if your membership year had ended 31 May as you could have done a PER/xSYD/CNS on 30 May then a CNS/xBNE/PER on 01 June giving your new year a SC nudge.

didnt think anyone would get dsc crossing over to the new year? i just assumed they offered to people nearing say last 3 months of their year.?

Considering they don't have a F cabin on the route I don't think they are very good at all, given it will result in J SCs.

I had a play on the CX site lastnight. It prices up at around 6.2k AUD. The first sector in F. The long one in J. Not. Good deal.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I am looking for a decent run ex-BNE, preferably same day, I am on DSC and I need 410 SCs for WP. As I need same day flights the motherload of KTA or PHE are out of reach so....

I am looking at Tue 26 Jun 12, BNE-xSYD-ASP-xSYD-BNE for 104,847 points, minus earn of 8,158 and a loyalty bonus of 8,000 nets off at 88,689 points. I get 480SCs so spending at a rate of 184 points per SC,

sounds good to me but I wanted to throw it out there to see if anybody can get better.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

How about a Saturday morning run to Newman, back in Perth by lunch.
48k + $104 with 240 SCs in the bag.

Thanks for that - that beats my PER-KTA-PER by $100!

You could do PER-MEL-SYD-PER in a day for 72k + $290, but that will of course be overkill SC wise, however you get more time in the air!

Hmm, I did have a look at getting a JASA PER-xMEL-SYD, then YASA SYD-PER - depends if my friends will be available in SYD :)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Thinking that I should take advantage of the Double SC promo while it lasts ;)

If you can squeeze in another 10 SCs somewhere else then you could go BNE-TSV-xBNE-SYD-BNE for 94,444 if you just want to use points. That's 400 SCs and a day trip is possible.

You have to take CX F to HKG then QF F to Syd on the A380. Need a TA to do it.

Still poor value at $6k+ given that's twice the value of a J fare if you could do it, given CX don't codeshare on the A380 I doubt a TA would help, and F services even on the shorter TPE leg are hard to find.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Tried a new SC run last week on JASA

Not the cheapest outcome but pretty cruisy which was the goal, ie not racing around domestic airport changes

SYD/MNL/SYD/MEL/SYD

QF19 SYD/MNL 12.35 pm departure; off plane in MNL, met by QF staff taken to transit desk boarding pass issued, 40 minutes in lounge (cough lounge though!).
back on QF 20 dinner, movie sleep arrived SYD 6.30am (using carry on only)
walked to transit QF bus to domestic. Arrive J lounge, shower tehn 8.00am JASA to MEL and back later that day.

320 SC
$164k points inc taxes (net of points earn)

With no double SC offer, it made me WP

Very happy to have good food/wine and IFE without the paid/domestic SC's otherwise on offer!

PS dont think I was ever officially in Phillipines as I never went through passport control!!

Apply for the right one and you hardly nee to spend, just take the bonus points! :)

I started a new year in March, received the offer in April and as you can see by my sig, have well and truly taken advantage! I should hit 1000SC in the next 2 weeks, and be a stones throw from requal 5 months into the year. However, with DSC ending I’m not sure if 2400SC’s is within my reach. If I get close though I might burn some to gain some come February!

Then again, maybe I just up my travel and hit P1 solely from domestic QLD Y travel (with a couple JASA’s)!!
