I’ve done that run it hurts
I did my run early this week; it was fine for the first four days but the final four segment day was nerve racking with delays due to snow (expected) on the NE coast (indirect effects) but CLT actually managed early morning snow as well (unexpected, direct effect)!?

Meant I was looking at a 7 minute connection at ORD from H to K ... Plane made up 10 minutes and I made the flight, falling in to the seat after some assistance from the FA on finding space for my carry on. I settled down for the flight and pondered the 5 hour DEN transit that awaited me before the next flight to LAX.

After takeoff I checked AA on GoGo and saw I'd been protected with the last First class (J) seat on a direct ORD-LAX flight leaving two hours later but arriving into LA 3 hours earlier than I actually did. :(

... moreover, first flight of this booking was a week ago and none have posted to my QFF account as yet.

Almost as an insult, yesterday I flew an AU$51 LAX-SJC (O class) and the 5 SC had posted this morning.

CMB-KUL-DPS also works well....... And DPS-PER is the last cheap option into PER that can earn with QFF.

Happy wandering
Fred

Can anyone help with an easy trip out of CNS for a simple 50 status credits. I am 50 short of Gold after a bunch of overseas trips.

I think I can do CNS-BNE-SYD on a flexible price...

Any help appreciated.

.

I don't think that you'll be able to do better than that when balancing cost, time and status credits earned.
A similar option is CNS-xBNE-TSV return in Y but a few dollars more and more time for the same SCs.
CNS-xBNE-MEL is similar but would earn you a few more SCs towards lifetime SG.

Depending on your priorities you could also look a return to PER or even CNS-xBNE-xSYD-OOL or CNS-xBNE-xMEL-HBA

CNS-BNE return on Flex Y earns 60 in total. Costs around $700. How does that compare to other options you've looked at?

I just did a quick two day DPS-KUL-LGK return over the Easter break on MH J class ($410 for 200SC), with PER-DPS return on JQ Y class with Plus bundle ($520 for 50SC) to push me over 1200 SC line for this year.

MH provide excellent value for Oz based QFF members. Next year if I need to do a status run, I'll take some more time and do some longer legs on MH in SE Asia.

Hi there. Looking for some advice on a status run. Based in CBR and need 220 credits. Need to apply my $450 AMEX ultimate travel credit to the fare (if that makes a difference).
Your thoughts and advice are most welcome

I'm doing similar next month with MH - found a great deal in Biz direct on the MH website.

BKK-KUL-NRT // NRT-KUL-BKK for 26500 THB. ($1100 AUD)

Looking forward to checking out the newish Qatar Biz Lounge in BKK - pics online certainly look good - as well as experiencing the new MH lounge in KUL which I utilised last month and is a big improvement on the old version.

The turnaround in NRT is a leisurely 4 hours, so a nice period of time to do some lounge exploring there.

I decided to break the journey back from Japan in KUL overnight and then booked a KUL-LGK-KUL for 558 MYR ($184 AUD) then connecting to BKK on the last leg of the other ticket.

The BKK-KUL-NRT-KUL-BKK will net me 280 SC's and the KUL-LGK-KUL 80 SC's. Good value ($3.56 per SC) and will keep me in Gold for another year.

A big upside of this is that KUL-NRT is on MH's new A350 - not much difference to J on their A330's, however the seat is a little wider and it's newer. Also, I was allowed to book NRT-KUL on a code-share service that is operated by Japan Airlines' 787, so I'm VERY happy to get to try that amazing product for 7 hours in J class for such a cheap price.

BKK back to BKK in less than 48 hours. Considering the lounges I can access and quality of product on certain flights I will get for this fare I consider it a great deal. Happy days! :)

All looks very nice. Beware the QR BKK lounge is apparently closed between 9am and 4.30pm.

Yes, I missed out last time because of that so I've booked the 6.40pm from BKK, so I should get an hour or so in there this time. Thanks for the reminder, Danger!

This mind-boggling but cheap run was posted to FT a few days

On a quick calc I get 510SC for A$1500
Running through MM then applying the new 20SCs for 0-400 and 30 for 400-700)
(Would have been 960SC before Simply Fairer)

Risk of misconnects very high though - 2 connections under 45min and another 5 under 90min

So really not that great a run, particularly considering on a lot of those as soon you go up you're coming back down. The misconnects, though, could be a Godsend. You could end up with a more direct routing and ORC.

I've got an NOU status run coming up with the 1 hour turnaround - so glad to know the process in advance. Will try get a BP in SYD but failing that will get the cabin crew to advise the ground crew so all sorted (as already pointed out). 880 SC's for ADL-BNE-MEL-SYD-NOU-SYD-MEL-BNE-ADL during DSC.

Wonder if anything could be nested inside that? I don't know MH's route map vs QFSC sweet spots well enough.

The best value MH fares usually have 2nt min stay req so I'd suggest looking at UL/QR for nesting. MH will check you through on different itineraries too despite no longer being required to do so by Oneworld.
