re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Thanks for the suggestion but how did you get $377 return for this routing? A random weekend in July is costing up at $388 one-way. Also, what does the 'x' in xMEL mean?

x means layover

Are they looking at JQ pricing or does QF just have very wild varying seasonal pricing?

Thanks!

The cheapest fare seems to be the direct JQ flight, which I'd be looking to avoid.

Re: Earning 115 QF status credits by 31 August 2015 - any suggestions?

A member requires 300 SC to gain PS for the first time, or 250 to requalify.
I am currently Gold and have 225 SC's, but only one QF segment flown. I was planning just to let the whole thing lapse, but from the above I assume that if I flew another 3 segments and gained 25+ SC's before 31 Aug I would be Silver for a year.

But, can anyone tell me, is there really any value in being Silver?

It really depends what you are prepared to spend to get it. Silver will get you a single QP entry, extra points when you fly and some very minor benefits with OW carriers. Full details here:

I was under the impression that QF gives their members soft drops. So once you let SG lapse you'll drop to only PS and not NB regardless of what SCs you've earnt.

"x" in a fares routing is short for transfer.

Status re-evaluation by QF takes into account your current year + your two previous and where the average allows you to maintain current (or lower) level, that is what you will be "gifted" by QF Loyalty. You get one per status level, except Platinum 1 and Bronze (ignoring Chairmans Lounge)

I'd fly the 3 QF segments just to be safe as there was some discussion about soft landings and the 4~ flights.
As to Silver benefits, business check-in and expanded luggage is worth it to some people. Also consider the mildly better seat selection than the general public gets.

Happy wandering

That reminds me, Y+ check in for intl travel (or J where Y+ is not offered) is a nice benefit. Biggest benefit for PS in terms of intl travel would have to be the free seat allocation.

Thanks for the advice everyone. As I already have a trip to OOL booked for August, I'll just add an extra segment or two to be on the safe side.

I always have trouble posting screen shots but take a look at this as an example:

22 July (note, weekday flight not weekend)
QF403 SYD 06:45 MEL 08:20
QF2281 MEL 09:05 LST 10:15 = $199

QF2282 LST 10:40 MEL 11:50
QF436 MEL 13:50 SYD 14:55 = $179 Total $377.30

If that's too early then there are some later options for $50 more.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Anybody with a double SC offer and the means or desire to head to the States could clean up on these runs ;)

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

True, my comment was to a specific person who is subscribed to this thread and I am aware that their wife just got a double SC offer and is P1 - so booking the QF flights to LAX return will give her a decent SC's haul, then she might just add some more SC's to get her to her re-qual target. Hear that the East Coast is a great place to visit this time of year ;)

Mmmm that would be lovely - jump to WP with one US trip.

Edit: why does a P1 need double SCs? It's us miserable SGs that need them to get to WP :D:D !!

Perhaps something about the 2700 or so QF only SC that are required to make P1?
I'll handle the four flight segments but if they wanted 400 QF SC for SG qualification I suspect I would forgo QF FF status.

WAIT.. a P1 got a DSC promo?!!!

That's the headline here for me! :p

(altho I am currently on 3580 SC's so not much point in one for me this year)

Is this the first recorded sighting of a DSC offer to an existing P1? :?:

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Not cheap but BNE AKL EK with QF code in F, AKL SYD EK with QF code in F, SYD BNE QF J.
Or AKL SYD EK with QF code in J.
