Sunday 29th of December saw DL41 LAX- SYD (B77L N710DN) with a revised arrival at 11 28, 198 min tardy. This pushes back the departure of the return leg DL40 which is now suggested at 13 15.

On Sunday 19 January 2020, DL41 from LAX to SYD (B772LR N704DK) should arrive at 0841, 31 late. This is one of its younger B772s, entering service in 2009, unlike others that date from 1999.

B772LR N703DN arrived in SYD on Thursday 5 March at 0757 hours, 13 minutes early as DL41 ex LAX. However the returning DL40 was then cancelled. On Friday 6, the aircraft is operating DL9932, a specially timetabled 1200 'high noon' SYD to LAX that did not take off until 1644 hours, so same day arrival should be at 1121 hours rather than 0645. I don't know if it has passengers.

Thursday 19 March sees DL41 LAX-SYD (B77L N709DN) with a revised arrival at 10 07, 177 min tardy. This will certainly push back the departure of DL40

On Wednesday 18 November 2020, DL40, the 1120 hours late morning SYD - LAX (A359 NS13DZ) departed at 1157 and took off at 1215 hours, with suggested arrival in the morning (same day) at 0641 hours, 36 minutes behind schedule. This flight is operating six days a week at present during 'the virus' with a weekday such as Wednesday or Thursday ex Sydney typically being the 'missing day'.

6 flights a week, that's a lot. Any idea how full these flights are ?

Not the current ones. However teh Commonwealth Govt's BITRE publishes statistics monthly.

For September 2020, inbound to Oz, there were 13 Delta flights with total seating capacity of 3744. Only 438 seats were occupied with revenue passengers, so 88.3 per cent of seats were empty.

Outbound from Australia, the percentage of seats occupied was eerily similar: 11.8 per cent, or 441 passengers in total.

Across all airlines in September 2020 inbound to our continent, 11.7 per cent of seats were occupied but outbound the percentage was higher at 25 per cent.

So if this is continuing in November 2020, you have a very good chance of having a comfortable trip even in economy: three seats to yourself.

On Friday 18 December 2020, DL41 from LAX to SYD is predicted to arrive at 1635 hours instead of 0830, so 485 minutes late. Aircraft is A359 N511DN. Yesterday this flight was 39 minutes late arriving.

The 17 December DL41 from LAX to SYD (arrival date Saturday 19) has been cancelled.

DL40, the Wednesday 30 December 2020 from SYD to LAX due to pushback at 1120, took off at 1338 hours with A359 N511DN. Arrival (same day) should be 0724 hours, 79 late. This was due to DL41 from LAX not arriving SYD this morning until 1153 hours.

On Monday 25 January 2021, DL40 (1120 hours late morning SYD - LAX) is not expected to depart until the early evening at 1935 hours.

However DL41 from LAX is showing as 'on time' tomorrow morning in expected arrival in SYD at 0830 hours, and it was also on time today. So I'm unsure why the delay.

Sunday 20 March 2022 saw DL41 from LAX to SYD arrive 67 minutes late with A359 N505DN.

However there must have been a problem with the aircraft, or crew, as it looks to be overnighting in Sydney. DL40 (1020 hours SYD - LAX) seems to have been cancelled at about 1245 this afternoon.

A359 N511DN on DL41, the 2230 hours Monday 21 March 2022 LAX - SYD was airborne at 2312 hours, so on Wednesday 23, arrival should be at 0808 hours, 38 minutes tardy. On Sunday 20 and Monday 21, this flight was respectively 67 and 63 minutes tardy arriving.

Wednesday 6 April 2022 saw DL40, the 1145 hours SYD - LAX (A359 N508DN) take off at 1309, arriving same day at 0906 hours, 51 minutes behind the timetable.

Today, the same flight is again delayed, with N513DZ the motive power. It was meant to depart at 0935 this morning but had not by 1100.

A359 N508DN arrived in SYD (ex LAX) at 0703 hours, 18 minutes late on Tuesday 7 June 2022. However the return flight to LAX, DL40 (the 1145 hours) was not airborne until 1407 this afternoon, so same day arrival should be approximately 0958 hours, 103 minutes tardy.
