That's 3 questions.
1. No, but it wouldn't feel as much a waste of money.
2. Yes, that's maybe the Holy Grail - a great tasting inexpensive wine, they can be found, especially in glut times.
3. Yes (if I agree with the scores)

I work on QPR, Quality/Price Ratio, if I assess the quality as high I'm often prepared to pay a higher price. If the price is higher and the quality not so high I'm disappointed and send it back if it's a Vinomofo buy or don't buy any more if elsewhere. I have two tasting groups each week and buy a lot of single bottles to try with them before buying the standouts in quantity.

Just a bit more on QPR, it's not Score/Price Ratio because scores of desirable wines range from 90 to 100 and it is unlikely a 90pts $10 wine (SPR=9) is better than a 99pt $100 wine (SPR=.99). If you take 90 off the score you might have something useful if you like playing with fractions.

So Quality is subjective, depending on personal preferences, whether the aim is immediate consumption or cellaring, what food it is consumed with, etc.

The Price factor is also dependent on your personal wealth and the prices you are willing to pay for a "high quality" wine. Some people can afford to drink $500+ wines regularly and may or may not find $50 wines acceptable in quality. Personally I can't afford that, and rarely spend over $100 on a bottle of wine, mostly buy in the $30-$60 range, less at times as the glut bites and discounts abound on good quality wines. I have friends who are happy drinking everyday reds at an average price of $10 that I procure for them on Grays and elsewhere, these are mostly Shiraz that are fault-free and perfectly suited for immediate drinking and some even suited to short term cellaring.

So ultimately QPR is not a numerical calculation/result, in fact it's a binary option at times, buy or not buy, is it worth the money asked/paid, yes/no? With the addition of "hell yeah" and "back up the truck" as other options at the high end and "down the drain" at the other..

Have you tried the 2019 of this? Winestar have it for a slightly higher price @ $13 but a decent review from Campbell Matinson makes it seem like it's still very good value.

Haha my post about the Little Reddie $12.50 Merlot deal was deleted because it contained an F word used by mike Bennie in his review of the wine. Honestly, what decade are we living in here, this is a forum about wine for grown ups.

Here is the deal, without the context of the Mike Bennie review (the f word was used as an effusively positive sentiment about the wine).

Buy the wine, support someone who lost their multi-generational home in a fire that severely effected the local wine industry.

Don't report posts that can help people's lives because you're offended by a grown up word, that is unkind.

I haven't yet tried 2019 but had 2022 that I bought from WS and 2018. Both were very good.. I suspect 2019 would be very good too as they seem to be quite consistent.

It was indeed part of the review, I even left it in quotation brackets and bolded it to make it nice and clear. I think there should be a clear difference in inflammatory language directed towards forum members and words not acceptable in a primary school but totally acceptable in adult conversation for colour and emphasis. Very shocked at the outcome and especially as not only my post went but other people supportive of Little Reddie and the cause who replied to further highlight the worthy cause.
