Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Worth noting that the 2018 is a straight cab/shiraz while the 2019 is the usual cab/shiraz/malbec blend. I wonder why the 2018 did not include malbec?
Not a winemaker (ha) but my understanding is a little Malbec is sometimes added to soften the wine. There may have been a small amount of malbec added to 2018 but not enough to meet the threshold to be labelled.

Ha, you guys thought you could get me but after researching the fact that the 2018 is much better rated and testing the buy button, it's sold out! What a relief. I win

Amon-Ra (Shiraz, 100% new oak) - $513 for 6 bottles 2017-2022.

Full bodied yet elegant. High oak, built to age. I snagged some. Amon-Ra is exceptional.

I apologise for my Friday afternoon vagueness, I must be in need of a good 2 or 3 glasses of a "goodun red" (or a 4 pack of elephant in the room!), I probably should have clarified a little more. Gets a bit like that sometimes, doesn't it!? I keep an eye out on the Dan Murphy's website quite a bit for good deals on red wine, and it seems to be a little quiet at the moment. The current 10% off on beer and spirits (and only if you spend $200) is a little disappointing. Just wondering if anyone has seen any good red wine deals of recent and if they would be kind enough to share?

I buy very little red wine from DM, and only if vintage is listed. I am not interested enough to call and ask or go into an actual store to look. For a long time until the recent re-appearance of some decent codes and free freight I bought almost nothing there apart from the occasional Champagne and spirits specials. Since the new discount era it's mostly the same strategy, only a bit more of it. DM doesn't have most of the wines I want to buy anyway.

Good points. However, there have been a few ~15% discounts in past months, which can be useful for buying a mixed selection of reds in a 6 pack, as you are choosing what you want rather than relying on a wine website to choose the bottles, and you can select wines that are already on member discount. The other plus for that is buying a single bottle of wine of a given label, rather than having to commit to an entire 6 pack, especially when you find out you don't like the taste of a bottle you are wanting to try and have 5 more to get through or get rid of. I totally agree that their selection of wines, and the often lack of vintage specifications is frustrating.

Nobody chooses the wine I buy but me, ever. I buy most of my wine from Nicks, TWC (usually when on sale or with a code, their pricing is weird), Grays (VIP list and auction quaffers for friends) various other small merchants and direct from wineries. Plus of course Vinomofo because I can easily send back anything that isn't what my research told me or as good as they claimed.

Naturally, although personally I am very happy to drink wine that other people buy...
