Yes, I heard it's a well-made wine. I supposed I was wondering where the premium pricing is from. (Purposely inflated or super rare or cult wine) As I have never heard of this brand. interestingly, those who had this wine has all been gifted.
I am glad that I came across this website and this wine! I learned from the description that "Unlike white wines, Shiraz wine is fermented with the skins and seeds mixed in with the juice."!

Given it’s doubled in price in 3 years seems there’s some dynamic pricing going on.

Hewitson Ungrafted Shiraz 2021 has been offered by Winestar and VM over the past week. Anyone ever tried it?

Nothing mind blowing and the $90 rrp is ridiculous, but a solid Shiraz for $11.50 off mydeal when it was offered there the other week.

I had it. A bit boring, thin, lacking body and finish imo. Even SWMBO who is more tolerant than me negged it. Maybe we came across a bad bottle or maybe I am too spoiled by some excellent Barossa shiraz.

ok at $11.90, not much too it, dont think cellaring will improve it, 100% a relabelled wine and a made up RRP

Standish email out this morning. "Blessed with a long cool ripening season each of these 2022 Shiraz’s are unabashedly Barossa but more intricately reveal a distinct sense of place in which the vines inhabit."

is it just me or Cellardoor co just jacked up the price for all the mystery deal? Or they have put different things in the packs?

We started the month with Mystery Cases and we’re ending the month with Mystery Cases, which makes April… a Mystery Case Sandwich.

Not for eating, but indeed for drinking, these Mystery Cases are both the top piece of bread and a mixed up and muddled up selection of wine goodness. You could get all one brand, or all different brands, all the same varietal, or all different varietals, 12 bottles or six.

But what’s the filling? Up to 69% off the RRP!* Sure, that doesn’t make sense as a filling, but it still sounds pretty tasty to us.

I have gone with one of the $300 red 6 packs... figure that is at least going to have 2 or 3 bottles of something good they are trying to get rid of like st henri, wynns icons or something...

I partook in the Mydeal offer a couple of weeks ago. Tried a bottle on the weekend and found it quite ok. Aired the hell out of it and enjoyed it with a treat from the wood-fired pizza oven. $12/bt decent value shiraz.

Appreciate the detail on this pack.

I was considering purchasing until I saw exactly what was in the pack. It does seem that the value of the mystery packs has dropped this time around. The value for this pack is still OK, especially if you don't already have these wines. But I know that I've purchased these wines previously for less than the price they are in this pack, so I'll give it a miss this time.

Hopefulll the level of bargain we've come to expect from these cellardoor mystery packs returns in the future.

Afternoon fellow quaffers, the JD Cellars Secret Wine #763 is St Johns Brook Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Also gets 95 Points from Aaron Brasher (The Real Review). I bought a dozen of their Zinfandel when VM first came to my attention many moons ago, and it was a simply astonishing example of the varietal. Sorely tempted to lash out and buy a sixer of this for $24.97 down from $60.
As an addendum, St Johns Brook's site seems to have disappeared online so my guess is that it has struck financial issues😕

Well, in December this exact pack sold for $250. I had grudgingly purchased it as I wanted to get some John RIddoch into my collection. I thought it was too expensive then, and at $300 it is even more so now. Particularly given the 2020 Riddoch vintage.

I wonder if there's more value in the other packs.... the $180 pack seems to have sold out
