I generally wouldn't post get wine direct deals, however I did some digging.

If you check this wine on Vivino, you find quite a few references to Chris Ringland.

It looks like the winemaker behind this wine could be Chris himself.
I wouldn't worry about the $300rrp, but for $25 a bottle it could be a good buy.

No longer Chris R from about 8 years+ ago when the parent company went bust.

Not sure who has taken over but the style has also changed from the older vintages.

Basic search reveals that this is Pettavel Reserve Platina Chardonnay 2016

Thinking that $90 price tag is a bit ridiculous - I did more searching.

When you search for JH Review - it states that the price when tasted was $39 which is more realistic. Another search confirmed $39 price tag.

This price make sense.

Previous vintage 2015 was sold last year for $100 at Dans and $110 at BWS. Now the 2016 is $150 at Dans and $160 at BWS (in store). Pure greed.

Many moons ago, when I was in retail liquor, we used a 35-38% margin to arrive at rrp. Someone out there may be able to confirm or correct me, as I suspect this margin is now 100% (probably even more) to enable discount cycles (at a smaller margin) now largely aimed at the e market sector and for those who don't do their homework, buy at the premium price (businesses can't go wrong)

Cyril went from $140-$160 in a year at First Choice.

It's interesting because exports are down, there's so many good deals but I believe high end wines are selling well in international markets

IMIIC wine margins at retail ~30% give or take - Majella offered me their wsale prices exactly same as Dans / Langtons / BWS etc pay - GPL68 at $97 incl - Langtons currently offering this at $130 so ~30% would seem about right.

But we still operate in a market economy don’t we? All vendors are free to set their prices wherever they desire - if a mug punter pays shelf price then that’s life - don’t some of you guys ever sit and watch a Dans or BWS or FC store and see the continual never ending stream of punters who come and go with trolleys full of plonk almost 100% at shelf price?
