Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I'm on the lookout for Vic Pinot Noir deals at the moment, the Mystery Wines 2016 Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 750mL Case of 6 for $174.25 with code PLUSBB17 did not look too promising, searching on the description took me to the same wine (same seller and description) at Catch for $154.37. Hadn't looked at Catch for wine in a long time so that was interesting. Then I went to BoozeBud directly and found the wine that matched the description was the Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Willowlake Pinot Noir 2016, which is currently on a Buy one, get one free promotion and you can stack the new user BESTBUD code to get $20 off an free shipping.

So I ended up with six bottle of the Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Willowlake Pinot Noir 2016 for $106.86 delivered. :)

Villa maria cellar selection pinot noir 2018 looks decent at 3.7, thousands of reviews.

It's sweet in that fruit-forward kind of way. Not bad for a quaffing/bbq wine for those who don't drink much red wine, but at that price point i'd probably end up with a wirra wirra church block instead

JD Secret Wine #253 down from $150 to $58.82 is Maverick Ahrens’ Creek Mourvèdre 2019 (GW95).

Maverick wines seem to be pushed hard recently, export is struggling and domestic market will not fall for that ridiculous pricing. I got some Grenache when it was down from $150 to $25 and was quite happy with the quality for that price. There is also Shiraz offered for $33 down from $180 on WineStar.

I received this on Friday and cracked a bottle, as RB mentioned it is more of a savoury wine than fruit driven, so I have decanted it and let it aerate for an hour or so. It is more of a elegant/delicate shiraz, higher acidity looks light but has a structure and firm tannins. Would be more akin to a cool climate Victorian/Geelong shiraz rather than SA, I am not unhappy at all but how they came up with $180 RRP is beyond me. Overall I would say it is a nice drop worth somewhere between $20-$40 so the "secret deal" price is right on the money.

Winestar has JaJa Barossa Shiraz 2019 for sale at a third of a RRP. Any opinions? Min is 12 bottles so I would be keen to split a case with a sydneysider if this any good.

I bought the first release 2004 for $26, RRP was $30 I think, it was still drinking well at 10 years of age.
The last one I bought was 2010 in 2018 (Vinomofo) for $20pb, RRP $30 back then, RRP went up after that. The 2010 is still offered at $60pb. I still have some 2010, haven't tried it for a while, should soon I think.
I went for a dozen of the 2019.

Not sure how often it’s discounted to these levels, but appears this is the 2017 Yeoman Shiraz - $594/case of 6.

Seems to be priced at $200+ a bottle elsewhere online.
Wasn't this at Winestar too? Maybe that's a different bottle.

It's definitely good wine, my brother is interested and messaged a mate to see if we can grab 2 each.

I have to stop buying expensive wine, it'll just sit in the cellar for 20 years ☺️

Halliday Top 100, 94 Point 'Bargain' Yarra Pinot - for $14.99!

An important clarification right from the outset - and one that will be obvious when you receive the wine. Despite our offer price, this is indeed the premium version of this label fashioned from established vineyards of the Coldstream sub region of the Yarra Valley. Indeed its debut in the Halliday Top 100 was impressive at any price:
From the Upper Yarra, early picked, wild fermented, matured in used large-format French oak. xx_xx xx_xx steps out of South Australia to fashion this attractively labelled (and vinified) wine. It's not thin or green; the bright, full clear crimson hue marking a bargain. Drink to: 2023; Price: $22.00; Date Tasted: Nov 2020; Alcohol: 12.2%; Rating: 94 Points & Special Value Star & Top 100 Wines for 2020; James Halliday; Wine Companion

At a time when the market is crying out for affordable Pinot Noir, it is quite remarkable how a wine can be sourced from this neck of the woods, achieve the aforementioned adulation from Halliday including 94 Points, Top 100 and singled out as being a bargain
at this retail price - never mind our offer price.

Be that as it may, for a very limited time we're offering it, in dozen lots for not the $22 RRP 'Bargain' but just $14.99 a pop. As you may imagine, stocks are limited. Quality Yarra Pinot for a snip. Have a great weekend.
