Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Hi Cruiser, following my discussions with VC store manager, she said that the WB Platinum is not a deleted line, and therefore can be reordered.

If the barcode is blank on the ticket or 'faded' then it is a deleted line.

The VC store manager basically said, she made a reorder as the barcode wasn't blanked out on the ticket and it came through.

Hi All, Thought I'd make a first post as have recently come across this thread and learnt a lot.

Vintage Cellars Double Bay had the WB Plat for $59 on the weekend. Sold out on Sunday but may be worth keeping an eye out if anyone is keen on it.

Bought 3x WB Plat from VC CBR last night, $59.95 a bottle. I think there was a single bottle of Mount Mary but one on the first day. There's not much else there if anyone's wondering other than 5x 2015 Octavius for $59,95.

Very good price for Plat! Would you be able to upload the invoice for price match at other stores?

I have been after the 2010 recently for a birthday in 2 years time. Does anyone know how the 2015 compares (The Octavius btw)?

Hi guys I am trying to find a special wine for my fathers 70th this year. This is not a man who is lacking in good quality wine.

Any recommendations or things outside the box - was trying to find a 1950 Para port - but that is almost impossible - with only 100 ml options for lots of money (rip-off).

was thinking maybe the Bass Philips premium Pinot Noir. has anyone had this? is it worth it?

Any other tips?

Thanks.

Bass Phillip a polarising Pinot; if you like your pinot dirty then you will probably enjoy (maybe even a bit bretty).

Langtons have a Wynns Black Label 1970 available at auction, unlikely to be good but could be worth a try. They often have birthday sales which go into back vintages. I think at 50 years old you will be paying a rip off amount just for provenance. Arguably any amount of money on a poorly stored wine would be a waste.

Good luck in your search.

Went to two VC stores today. Bugger all left on Cellar Sale. Just grabbed a bottle of Teusner Joshua at $20. Might check in again in another week or so

Hi All has anyone here had Shadowfax Macedon Ranges Chardonnay?

I am thinking about getting a dozen from Vivino who are doing it for $25 a bottle + $20 shipping

Thanks.

Not much in VC North Adelaide either, just saw a WB Platinum for $84 but that doesn’t seem great compared to what others have found elsewhere!

Have you checked Grays?

I see a 1939 Para closing in about 4 hours time that's up to $149.

There's also a 1944 currently at $89

A few more VC deals to add.
2012 Wynns V&A lane shiraz $19.99. I bought all they had.
2014 WB Plat $59.99 - was still a lot left at paddington
2016 Deep Woods Single Vineyard Cabernet Malbec - $10 best deal of the lot in my opinion.
some burgundys
a 2009 1er cru vosne romanee (drank saturday night forgot the producer- not one I knew) $80 I wish they had more.
2014 Leroy Bourgogne Blanc $60. Always wanted to try Leroy so this was a good chance.
