Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Let's not beat around the bush here. The only reason it seems like a great deal is because Grant Burge have heavily inflated their prices, well beyond their standing in the market. When they don't sell at their ludicrous RRP, they get offloaded via Vinomofo / Dan Murphy secret deals. It's an increasingly common trick that wineries are playing on unsuspecting consumers.

If you like them big, decedent, oaky & unstructured, then it's probably worth a shot? Personally, I struggled to finish a glass of this one when tried recently, and I wasn't the only one - amongst a group of big Barossan drinkers no less.

Last Meshach I had was an 09, blind, tasted against Sami Odi Hoffman & Torbreck Run Rig. Almost to a man the group preferred the Meshach (mine was the lone voice for Sami Odi). Many noted it's balance, structure and lack of typical Barossa 'burnt' characteristics.

I get the annoyance at the skeezy marketing, but I think you might be overegging the point here. I'd love to be in a group of people that didn't want to drink any of the Meshach; but it's not a wine I seek out personally.

Yes it was. Forgot the laughing emoji 😂
I've missed out in the past and will try and keep an eye out for the next one.
On the DM site, there is stock at the regular price so chances are the under wraps stock will come up again.

Do you all think the 2010 Meshach is still a good deal at $65?

A good deal on wine is very subjective. The fact that it’s heavily discounted doesn’t mean anything. Many big Barossa producers significantly increased their RRP in last 5-8 years due to higher export demands. Personally I love the Meshach and 2010 was an excellent year but I understand why it’s not to everyone’s taste.

Went to my local VC - had been absolutely picked clean!

The guy said I needed to have been in on the first day a couple of weeks ago to get the St Peters I was after, or the Quintet (which he proudly said he'd nabbed one of). But I did get three of these Octaviuses, which I'm very much looking forward to drinking. Overpriced at the RRP, very good at $60.

That's a nice buy at $60! RRP is hysterical though.

I tried two of my locals tonight. Nothing at all interesting except a Mr Riggs Shiraz for $30. Most wines on sale were $1-2 off.

I’ve found wolfblass platinum for $83, not sure if that’s any good? Left it on the sheet. Let me know if I’ve made a mistake hahaha

You gotta look for items ticketed ‘CELLAR SALE’ - forget all others - quick run along each shelf does the trick - 10 mins will get you through entire store

next to nothing at my local. Picked up some bargains a couple of weeks ago but nothing of note there now.
Not sure if more is being added this week. I’ll keep popping in.

$108 still not bad considering the price on WB website is $200. My local VC BNE store got more stock at $84 from other QLD stores that couldn’t sell it.
My father in law bought the 2003 a couple weeks ago for $84 and we both thought it was only just average at best. Other vintages might be better but I would steer clear of the 2003

This work for anyone?
" Unfortunately, this seller won't post to your location. Please update your delivery address and try again. " ACT and SA addresses.

Worked for a Queensland address.

I noticed my ebay DM orders are comg via auspost with redirect available, finding most are doing this as per contactless delivery. Might be worth setting up a parcel collect in the allowed state and redirecting (pretty sure email, phone need to match at ebay and aus post accounts to allow redirect too)

Re WB Plat: Somehow I ended up with a 2006 which was spectacular - I tried a 2012 and straight out of the bottle when opened did not excite - let it sit in decanter for 24hrs and it was fabulous.

We had a 2014 at a dinner last Friday night and it was excellent - this is my kinda wine.
