Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Hi Dr Ralph. Thanks so much for your advice, it's really appreciated & prompted a swift removal of the item from my cart!
I think the number of times you see this wine heavily discounted is a telling sign.

There is nothing wrong with the wine. But I do think it's not in the price range it claims to be.

I think this one is better value:

Secret Selection Coonawarra Cabernet Shiraz 2012

I have seen it priced cheaper than this in the last 2 years, but this is from a very well known highly reliable wine producer. Anyone you gifted this to would be very appreciative.

Thanks again Dr Ralph, the V&A lane certainly is a nice drop - it's a crying shame that it's not available for C&C at any of my local Dan's.

I'm Interested to try the 2016 Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet Franc from Winedirect with their 30% off. Has anyone tried it? or possibly know if the review from Mike Bennie was favourable?

93 from TONI PATERSON on "The Real Review"

Now living in Coonawarra we have had a few of the Leconfield Cab Francs as well as the new Petit Verdot. The CF is a ripper from Paul Gordon and won Best Alternative Red Variety (other than SHZ, MER, CS) at the Limestone Coast Wine Show this year, The PV won the Small Batch Award at the same event.

Well worth chasing if keen to try.

HI all, picked this up from the OzBargain deal forum the MOCU shop is shutting down (apparently owned by Lion?). Anyways the offer is beer (though stocks are vanishing quickly) but they have a wine tab as well and everything is 50% off and delivery is free over 50$ to metro...most beer is gone (though i got a couple of 6packs) but I picked up a case of 6 Pinot from Oregon that looks good and at 50% off with delivery couldn't go wrong. They have about 5 pinots, 2 rose, a riesling and a merlot.

Buy Craft beer, cider and wine online - MoCU

ps. Use MOCTWEL15 if it is your first order for 15$ off
pss. Can someone tell me the etiquette for 'cross-posting' this in to the Beer forum?

Annoyingly, they ended up shipping the wrong wine. Well done to whoever got my Wildcat Mountain Pinot! On the positive side, while they're unable to send me the wine I ordered they have offered a full refund and I can keep the Sonoma Coast.

Same case here, ordered Wildcat PN and received Sonoma Coast. Rang up and arranged replacement and pickup.
Got the replacement and guess what, it's Sonoma Coast AGAIN.
Contact MOCU/call centre who's arranging for another replacement. Hopefully can get refund and keep the Sonoma Coast as happened to you. LOL.

BTW, The Nuthouse PN and Steinlager Dry were delivered as ordered.

Update: Replacement due late arvo. Stocks available. No such luck in refund and gets to keep the "wrong" wine. I am in Sydney, Are you elsewhere "llamaesque" ?

What a joke! They told me there they'd already couriered all the stock away so there was no chance of getting a replacement.

Did you get your Wildcat?

I'm in Brisbane. Called again to confirm the refund and they reiterated that there was no longer any stock of the Wildcat. Not going to press any further as there's really no point and I'm happy to keep the Sonoma Coast effectively for free.

EDIT: Out of spite I cracked a Sonoma Coast and it's bloody lovely. you're in good hands whatever you end up with I think.

Yes my Wildcat finally arrived. I was hoping for a refund and keeping the Sonoma coast. No such luck. My first US pinot nor.

What number are people using to call MOCU? Only half of my order arrived and the 1300 number is now switched off permanently it seems. They just say email [email protected]. Would love a number if anyone has one.

Cheers.

Attention shoppers!

When in New York City do you struggle to buy good wine at a reasonable price?

Are you frustrated by wine retailers whose entire range would fit in a 36 bottle vintec, each bottle costing more than your airfare?

Well despair no more because Warehouse Wines and Spirits is your home away from uncle Dans.

Technically it’s not a warehouse but it’s bigger than anything else I found in NYC. Think of the smallest Dan’s you know and the biggest BWS. It’s roughly mid-way between the two.

It also has a much bigger French selection than any Dan’s I’ve been to, and for Malbec lovers the back wall is 100% South America.

But what about price I hear you asking. Well how about 2013 Penfolds Bin 407 @USD49.99/btl. That’s USD54.39 after sales tax and at today’s FX rates is AUD70.52. That’s AUD4.50/btl* better than Uncle Dan. (*yes I know you can do better with Wish & CR, but they’re now available in the US.)

The store is cramped and badly laid out. It’s in an older building. But for the range and price I can live with that. Also, the service was better than any Dan’s I’ve been to.

Pics below should give you an idea. It’s on Broadway between 7th and 8th. The bookmark for future NYC adventures is: Wine Store in Noho New York, NY 10003 - Warehouse Wines & Spirits

Cheers!

Not the massive upstairs storage area. There is also a temperature controlled cellar for their collection of “fine wines”. The 407, 389 & 169 should all be in the cellar IMHO.

Looks very interesting. Booking it in for Dec 2018.

Not far from Flight Club either (812 Broadway, New York)!
