Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

for those unaware, [post=1459725]qantas epiqure currently have a sale on with significant reductions[/post] :)

Cellar Door have a flash sale on "Coldstream Hills Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2015 (6 Bottle Case)" for $123.00 delivered

iirc they were $19/bt ($114/6pk) in their warehouse sale a few weeks ago - sorry for not posting :(

Re cellardoor - I do not seem to know anyone that works at TWE, so have had to investigate other methods of getting access. I tried sweet talking them a couple of times, but no dice.

The only option I can see available is becoming a TWE shareholder, but that will cost me $40 in brokerage ($20 on the buy and $20 on the sell).

Anyone aware of any easier ways?

so [post=1388853]asking nicely[/post] didn't work :(

if you're a member of winefront, check out the seppelt chalambar shiraz 2013 review comments, otherwise hopefully someone here can help :)

Some old accounts don't seem to have access to all the deals after they re-jigged the site a while back, I had two accounts, one could see the deals, one not.

Send them an email with your account email and describe your problem, they may be able to fix it for you.

it seems that different people have different access to wines/prices: my [post=1358191]rosemount[/post] account (my account > Rosemount Ltd Rel Subscribers, thanks :)) has less wines than my [post=1388853]shareholder[/post] one (including no coldstream hills), but whereas the cheapest i've been offered seppelt drumborg pinot noir has been $27.50 (shareholder account), it seems staff/friends could buy it for $22-$25 according to winefront?

This may not be for everyone, but some high end aged wines at good prices here from Nicks in The Dream Cellar Sale:

https://www.nicks.com.au/store/dream-cellar-sale?dir=asc&limit=48&order=producer

A few items sold out already, but this is the pick of the bunch that's still available:

1986 Mount Mary Quintet Cabernets $99.99

brings back memories of buying cases of the 1988 vintage for $40-$60/bt iirc in the 1990s :)

Wine Market have a clearance sale on at the moment for a range of white wines they have on run-out:
http://www.winemarket.com.au/range/white-wine?page=1

This includes the 2013 Mr Riggs Watervale Riesling at $10.75 a bottle (delivered). This is one of the nicer Rieslings I've recently tasted:
http://www.winemarket.com.au/Mr-Riggs-Watervale-Riesling-2013-12-Bottles

The 2013 Mr Riggs Ein Riese Riesling is also listed at $10.75. It is rated more highly than the Watervale (94 vs 93 points), but I haven't had the opportunity to taste it.

Has anyone tasted the following? Thoughts?

Dukes Vineyard Magpie Hill Reserve Cabernet 2014

for those who missed out but still want it, it's $29.90 at cloudwine

Still coming up as $43.70 for me:confused:. Vintage is 2013, one of their best.

Check the OzBargain link - sale is state specific - you need to set the correct state in the site menu bar. Changing from Vic to NSW (for example) changes the price from $43 <-> $30. I found I have go to back to the home page to get the State selection to "stick" though.

Edit: sale is pick-up only as well - no delivery. I guess you try to price match with Dan Murphys?

Mine shows $31 for VIC...

Now listed as $83.17 with only 2 cases left; presumably you can apply happybanker on top of that (and maybe or maybe not pricepal as discussed previously).

Happybanker doesn't work anymore but Pricepal brings it down to just under $80.

If you haven't used Happybanker on your account I would still try it - it was a single use code

I think it's all gone.

Tried the 2012 John Riddoch tonight at the TWE evening, as I've invested in a half-dozen already and was interested in how they were tracking. It sort-of falls over at the moment - not something I'd pay $80 for (let alone what I did pay) without knowing it's heritage. I really do hope it gets better in 5+ years. Do not buy if you want to drink anytime sooner.

I've ordered a case last week for myself (using the happybanker code and pricepal) and another one today for my client who appreciate good reds and has underground cellar so he probably won't touch them this decade. I will open one bottle to satisfy my curiosity and ideally another in 2 years and so on...
