Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

WOW - how good is this? Personal delivery by Tom himself from Smashvino - delivering 12 x 2014 Leeuwin Estate Cab Sav!

View attachment 153426

Spent 20 mins talking to Tom about all matters wine - his history. his family history, what or what not AFFers might be interested in.

So timely as whilst he was here Dan's arrived to drop off 2 x boxes of the https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_B999999000732/iconic-cellar-release-barossa-shiraz-bundle

Tom is pretty clear now that these are the types of bundles / deals that might excite discerning AFFers. Really looking forward to what he can come up with.

Hi Cruiser Elite,

Any News on the Shop Back credit for the Barossa DM Bundle?

Would be gutsy to buy this given the extremely limited description.

Concerned by this:

'Mixed 6 pack of reds, all scoring 95+'

Who gave the 95 points and when were the point awarded??????

and this:

'Worldwide!'

Could be Guatemala!

Also vintage of wine important to know!

At $200 and an average of $33.33 per bottle, they are asking for a lot of trust. I'd want a LOT more info to get on board or a dramatic reduction in the price for me to take a risk.

Agree wholeheartedly - not buying just posting offer

It was Boozebud, not Dan's, and I contacted them via their website and then email. The refund has already been processed so I'm very happy with the response.
Just had the same issue. Got home and found the 2016 was delivered. I’ve just sent off an email.

Any thoughts on this please - Vollereaux Champagne Cuvee Marguerite Brut 2008 | Buy Wines online Australia wide | Premium Wines direct

GWD have offered me 25% off deal but I know nothing about this . Would appreciate your input.

I wouldn't buy it on principle that they suggesting the price is at a $50 discount already. See Vollereaux Cuvee Marguerite 2008 | Melbourne Wine House | Buy Online

Not much info on CT either - 2008 Vollereaux Champagne Brut Cuvée Marguerite, France, Champagne - CellarTracker

I think at that price for 2008 vintage, I'd just buy something I knew was good rather than take a random punt unless you just get a bottle or two for interest sake.

Ah huh - I just thought someone might have tried it - I can buy LP Rose for $80.50 off SV right now which fits exactly your thought pattern - but also good to keep searching.

If you trawl through their listings you can pretty much work out what's in the mix, one of my Forum members has come up with two options, only two wines different in the two suggested mixes.
This is almost certainly the 99 pointer: Tenuta Ulisse 2016 Amaranta Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOP — Buy Wine Online Australia - Shop & Order The Best Wine on Smash Vino
The others are likely all Australian, one possibility is the Dreadnought Syrah though.

The quoted original price for the mix is $300. Assuming that is the usual smashvino price for the wines, you can pretty much work out what's in it by trawling through the red listings and looking at the scores shown. So it would be a little over 30% discount, slightly better than their best discount previously.

Looking to take advantage of the deal I mentioned here: Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Came across this:

Mount Pleasant Philip Shiraz 750mL | First Choice Liquor

Seems very cheap at $14 a bottle (would be $9 after using the code), especially given Dan’s have it for $24.99

BWS has it for $27

BWS | Your Local Bottle Shop For Beer, Wine & Spirits

And even at the vineyard it’s $24

I was too slow Dr R. it seems to have vanished off the radar, haven't had a bottle for a few years but back in the day Philip was a nice earthy well-rounded red and a good match for Elizabeth the semillon stablemate, thanks for the heads up though....

Yes, agree it has vanished.

'Unfortunately Mount Pleasant Philip Shiraz 750mL is no longer available.'

Must have been a pricing mistake I think.

Managed to get a few bottles :)

Yes I think you’re right. When I saw your post I jumped on to it that same day and it was ‘gone’. Possibly a pricing mistake for that particular bottle.

For those unaware, CellarHand have a bunch of events/tastings/dinners this week around the country, with dozens of European winemakers visiting, to celebrate their 20th anniversary - besides Melbourne and Sydney, there's Perth (2 with 1 free?), Adelaide (3 with 1 free), Brisbane (2)

CellarOne offer Brookland Valley Reserve Cabernet 2013 for $36.66 a bottle - Customer Login

96 Halliday, 94 Winefront and Huon thought it was pretty good (but I can't see exact details due to paywall). I think Brookland Valley is an under-rated winery. In addition, I thought 2013 was a very good year in Margaret River.

The Brookland Valley sale ends tomorrow at 11am AEDT - besides this and the chardonnay, there's also the Cabernet Merlot 2015 (GW93) at 60% off RRP for just $23.33/bt (or $20/bt after $20 referral credit) :)

Any word on the 2018 Fifa World Cup Taittinger? Can't find any suggestion. Maybe they were wise and didn't buy many this time round...
