I managed to resist Zontes Footstep Violet Beauregard Malbec 2015 for ~$10 but couldn't go past a few more Bleasdale reds. There was also some Pertaringa (as a secret deal), West Cape Howe cab merlot and Tintara shiraz that looked great until I checked the finances ;-)

Dropped into my local Dans last night and firstly sampled then bought a six pack of 2016 Hollick Stock Route Shiraz Cab. A previous vintage was a standout for me but this one, after a second sample did the trick. Longevity is assured with obvious but not too overpowering tannins. A little young obviously but at buy one get one, two for $22, supurb quality and value. Another I bought which I really liked for something different was the Casillero Del Diablo 2016 Carmenere. I normally don't drink wines from o/s but this was very good. Medium weighted, spicy and definitely a good buy at $11.90. It would be the starter of the night before the oomphy ones come out. Like our Tasmanian immigrant delectableblue, I very rarely get here as the temptation would be too great. My cellar is diminishing but at a cost to my one and only liver. However I can't resist a bargain which is my lifes mantra.

Ah missed checking out the Hollick Stock. Agree with the comment on Casillero Del Diablo 2016 Carmenere, I still have a case in the cellar that i picked up from Dans for $50 (before egift+CR mind you) last time it was on special, there are some exceptional value wines from Chile.

Also, If anyone is still chasing Hares Chase Ironscraper 2013, Dans has dropped it to $15 a bottle as secret. I'd be in for more - but have agreed to cut back wine purchases.

Only one, 1 star review on Dans will put a few people off.

Reckon this is the Wills Domain Cuveé d’ Élevage Shiraz, though 2014 vintage?
Secret Selections Margaret River Shiraz 2014
2014 Cuveé d’ Élevage Shiraz : Wills Domain

If yes, anyone rate it?

It's their weakest offering (unless you really like MR Shiraz), wait for the Matrix, the Cabernet or Chardonnay which regularly come up as Secret Selections.

*Edit - in the interest of providing an alternative option; this is the Leasingham Classic Clare Cabernet 2013, which I think is a cracking drop for $30:
Secret Selections Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

  • Hardys HRB Shiraz 2015 $20 (JH95, HH88)

The James Dominguez Cellars Secret Wine # 116 today is the Pertaringa ‘Over the Top’ McLaren Vale Shiraz 2015, at $19.78 a bottle it sounds pretty darn good to me but haven't tried it, anyone want to weigh in with their impressions....cheers

Looks like Winedirect has it as $120 a six pack secret deal also Secret 2015 Gold Medal, 96pt McLaren Vale Shiraz 6 Pack Haven't tried it myself but my sister has and recons it's really good but I didn't get the impression it was outstanding.

Not a bad wine in my eyes, actually a sentimental favorite. Sorry im no good at giving tasting notes. The fact that i picked up a couple unlabeled cases from their tractor shed sale at $16pb may have made it taste better though. Id pay $20pb for it. Also still available as secret at winedirect if you have credits to spend there.

Is under cork.

Thanks Chonka, $16 sounds like a gift for a wine that Tony Keys says he'd pay $40 for quite happily! I'm tempted to grab a 6-pack at that price, and despite the tasting notes is this a hefty shiraz, I know the 15% sounds big but I mean flavour-wise? Cheers....

Thanks, sounds like Chonka was onto the Winedirect deal too, my palate is skewed towards fairly large wines when it comes to shiraz so imagined this might fit the bill after reading some of the reviews, there are too many deals around at the moment, it makes life difficult:confused:....
