Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Dan's have RWT back on special but this time $115 - 389 also at $60 - I want a doz ea but set $105 and $55 as price point - what are my chances do you think?

I think if you want the wines you should pay that price. Its pretty good. Otherwise you do risk not getting them at all. Alternatively, hedge your bets and get half a dozen of each for now?

I think the new releases are around October. So perhaps just prior prices may drop.

Or this vendor.

Agreed. At some stage these wines will be back at a discounted price. The significant margin on purchase price for DM and their profit level means that they buy truck loads of popular wines, like Penfolds, and can afford to hold them for years and then sell them at what seems like a reasonable price and still make a decent profit.

Their recent sale of a vintage BIN 138 is a good example of this process.

Yes good Dr I intend to - but still want to get the RWT back at the cheaper price if poss - I know I saw 389 at $58 couple months back - I will be patient.

I think the 389 is $59 in any six at Vintage cellars at the moment, bonus $25 cellar share if you buy 6, plus the 350pts (which is $17.50).

Cracked the first bottle from the mystery pack form Dans. The Yarn Bomb is going down quite easily, it's a good quaffer.

Templeton Barossa Shiraz 2012 is on special: two bottles for $28, not bad IMO.
I've also ordered a case of Kalleske Greenock Shiraz 2012. It's not on special but hard to find it anywhere and I thought this vintage was exceptional and good value for money at $36 per bottle (only available for delivery).

Saw this in Dan's this arvo - think I'll grab a doz - spoke to my wine connoisseur mate and he says grab me a doz too if you can get 14% off that price:

MANY places. You just have to have a look for them. It's the standard discount I get them at.

Groupon, for example had them recently.

Chere for example for the deal last month:

BIG W: 7.5% Off eGift Card
Indeed Groupon did have them at 7.5% disc but it took a month and dozens of calls / emails to eventually get them delivered. I did say never again with Groupon but it is amazing how alluring that 7.5% discount actually is.
