Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I recently purchased some of the Dan Murphy's Semillon Secret Selection from Wills Domain (2014), which is a cracking job BTW.

CR initially recorded the transaction, then after a few weeks it was marked as "declined". I have contacted them to request the reason why but none of the reasons they have given me have applied. At their request I have sent through the invoice and they are further investigating. At this stage I can't fault CR for their response, but I am a little disappointed about the fickle nature of CR.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I have had good experiences with CR's service recovery - none have been wine related so I wont go into details

Mine have worked ok. I got a couple months ago the wills domain cuvée d'élevage cabernet sauvignon and it was also superb (drank it a few nights ago)!

You mean the Matrix (Cab blend) right? I got this one too and it was excellent but needs much more age.

As an update CR has queried this transaction with Dan Murphy and moved it back into the 'pending' category. So far I have been quite impressed with their customer service.

No, the matrix deal was after the cab sav

This really sounds like my kind of wine, what are your thoughts Prozac (really quite decent pricing!)?

I just got a dozen of the 2013 vintage of this and it's lovely - rich and full of dark cherries! 2010 - 2014 vintages are all ranked 90 - 94 by Mr Halliday, and the 2015 has some medals etc, so it should be in the same mould.

Thanks roshea for the tasting notes, I've been aware of its existence but haven't dipped my toe in the water yet so its always good to have some first-hand experience. My only dilemma is how to justify buying it as I've got a dozen of the Churchview Zinfandel from the 'Fo on the way and a credit sitting with them for the Tempy that's going back, I'm going to have to ponder it (but not for too long)...cheers, W&D

That is why I put it out there, I don't know. I know Chocolate Factory received some discussion some months ago but I have not located those posts yet.

Sorry I didn't realise your fiendish plan Prozac, sounds good though doesn't it!

RRP is $25, but I see earlier years down to $18. These are $12.50 delivered. I have 3 x Dans $50 ecards for which I received $10 cb each, making this effectively $120, or $10/btl. Less CR.
I think I just talked myself into it. ;)

Chocolate Factory is a favourite at WineDirect when they do their 30% off sale (one is due soon). Used to work out, after discount, at about $11 per bottle, but they increased the price so these days it's about $12.60. Delivery free with 12 bottles. A good quality quaffer. In earlier years, at least, I often preferred the Lake Doctor, also a Shiraz, though less 'awarded'.

I have a stack of credits for The Den that are expiring in the next few days. Anyone see any standout offers? I'm too busy over the next few days to conduct my usual due diligence on such things - happy for recommendations!

Thanks!

The St Hallett single vineyard are cheap at the Den compared to the St Hallett site. There's also some 2003 Petaluma available, if you want something older and more up-market. And if you have a lot of credits, there's always stuff like the Coriole Lloyd etc.

Used $780.88 for a mixed 12 of
Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2012 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier 2014
St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2013
Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

across 13 cards....perfect. Set for next year..! Thanks again!

Wow! I'm assuming not all of those card are your name?!?

I only bought three bottles:
Benevelli Piero Langhe Nebbiolo 2015
Vajra Barolo Bricco del Viole 2012
Balnaves The Tally Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Should be $133 after rebates. Winning!

I'm afraid I'm up for the $12.50 buy-in price not having cards/bonuses/points etc but with free delivery it certainly comes across as a decent enough deal, still showing great restraint prozac but not sure I can last (looking for a smilie face that registers shame but can't find one!)

Click Frenzy is leaving me a little cold...any gems worth grabbing I may have missed?

Nothing much other than the curiosity value of the Zonte's has grabbed me that's for sure...

I think the one thing that stands out in its favour additionally is the stellar 2015 vintage, I've not had anything bad regarding wines produced in that year....
