Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I can imagine that scene. ;)

It would quickly descent to Steady and I undertaking quality control. I can see us sitting on a small table surrounded by empty wine bottles with not a receipt in sight.

I don't think it's fair to compare a $32 "hidden label" deal with a $39.95 deal, and say the price has gone up a lot...you probably couldn't have gotten the 2012 at less than $39.95, as a regular retail deal.

I agree with that, also in this case they probably don't need to discount as much. The 2012 was 96 Halliday points. I think it also helps when the 2013 got 97 points and the 2014 won best shiraz at the Royal Melbourne wine show. Pedigree sells

Good morning vedder50. You are right, it is three of us. As I explained in my email to you, we had several issues with emails, stock levels and also with the original email to you. I have spoken with Chris and we all agree he needed to provide you with a more thorough response.

Please accept my public apology.

Sincerely,
Steve

Just an update for others, my order was promptly delivered (3 business days to Melb) once I was emailed that my order was confirmed as received. Thanks Steve for getting involved and resolving quickly.

That's fair I guess.

I still think at $65 it's getting high, but at $40 it is more palatable ;)

I can see clearly now ;)

Also pleased to report that although I've not received my order yet, Steve's provided me with tracking info so I now have a delivery estimate and a bit more peace of mind.

Was my guess too, but I didn't get an email about it, and I've bought plenty of Stonewell before through them. Hence wondering if it's some other retailer.

My Langton's email today had it for $80 - I joined via Vintec not AmEx so must let my broker know that I have an AmEx and want to receive their preferential pricing in future :)

They also have Mount Langi Ghiran Langi Shiraz 2014 for $99 (or $73/$77 with $100/$50 Vintec voucher and 9.6% Cashrewards)
https://www.langtons.com.au/product/9415/1/2014/mount-langi-ghiran-vineyards/langi-shiraz

Whilst rated 98pts by James Halliday and 95+pts by Campbell Mattinson (Winefront), Jeremy Oliver apparently only gave it 91pts according to wine-searcher

The Mast Shiraz is considered better value (similar scores at half the price) - though perhaps (consequently) more scarce

Cellarmasters has $100 off $200 spend with 100OFFWINE today only (thanks to OzBargain)

In Dan's catalogue commencing tomorrow (Thurs 15/9/16):

Should be able to get it down to at least $167.20 (less than $24 avge a bottle) by utilising click and collect with 5% wish card discount and 7% cash rewards cash back.

was also apparently (no longer) $170.80 if 6x Grey shiraz chosen ($150.30 or $21.47/bt after Cashrewards/WISH)

I really like the Wolf Blass 2012 shiraz grey label

I think can be tempted at +/- $16 per bottle ( using $100 off ..8% CR etc etc )

Nor has anyone mentioned the $20 cashback from Amex. ;)

That brings the GB Filsell under $19 for me as I need delivery, I would jump if I could click and collect @ mid $16 (after CR and wish card)

Well the $20 cashback gets it below my price point (The GB wouldn't meet the spend $120 for those don't get stung the $15- delivery)

Nice. $120 minimum spend on Amex.

For a bargain quaffer, Gemtree Uncut Shiraz 2013 will just sneak over the threshold if you get it delivered ($6.95 for me): $224.03 delivered - $100 - $20 = $104.03 or $8.67pb)

If Cashrewards goes through, it should give another $15.70 back, makes it $7.36pb.

Zonte's Footstep Chocolate Factory 2013 also for the same price.

Maverick Twins GSM 2013 or Maverick Twins Cab Blend 2010 just a touch more, at $10pb.

Some others (e.g. Filsell, Terre e Terre Cab Sav, Bleasdale Generations Shiraz) are still good buying with $100 off, but won't quite hit the $120 AMEX requirement after discounts, so you'd need to add something else to the order.
