Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I know nothing of them - but I now own 6botts - a mate who has a huge cellar actually called me and instructed me to grab some - he thinks this 2012 Reserve is as good as Leuuwin Estate - if it is it's a bargain @$36.99 - I am a serious Leuuwin Estate fan - lord knows how many bottles Leuuwin Estate Cab Sav we have downed at The Olive Tree over the years.

Mr_Orange recently posted about Perrier-Jouet available @$50 bott les 10% at Bootleg Liquor - I see now that you can get 16% rebate on Bootleg purchases through CR - that brings the PJ back to $42/bott - seriously good price.
Bootleg liquor, in Sydney, owned by a wine critic Ben Malouf.

Same dude who gave The Allegiance Shiraz a 97. Damn high score. I still wait to return to work to collect it.

Managed to snag 8 x 2013 'Wozza's Delight' aka Hare's Chase Ironscraper Shiraz from Langtons last night @ $16pb, so looking forward to trying it soon.

Winestar mystery wine

Any ideas on this one from Winestar:

Mystery Coonawarra Shiraz 2012 - $11.99

Mystery Coonawarra Shiraz 2012

'One of the things that sets us apart from 'Mystery Wine' offers our competitors do is that - apart from the accolades we spruik and the genuine costs saving off a real retail price - when we promise 'big name' we deliver. This week we have a half price offer on a wine with a bunch of big accolades and endorsements and it emanates from, not just a big name, but one of the absolute legends of Coonawarra with a label that began 50 years ago!

The Mystery Coonawarra Shiraz 2012 is no new kid on the block starting life in the 1960's when it was labelled 'Claret'. The 2012 is still crafted from grapes grown on almost fifty year old, hand pruned vines from the family vineyards right in the heart of Coonawarra. As one could imagine given the vintage, it has a treasure trove of bling lead by 95 Points and a Gold Medal at the prestigious Royal Melbourne Wine Show as well as medalled at no less than 9 Australian Wine Shows in the last two years! It has 92 Points in Halliday's Wine Companion, 92 Points by Campbell Mattinson in The Wine Front and Jeremy Oliver describes it as "smooth and elegant".

Yes we are being a bit cryptic by just summarising the reviews and ratings, just as we are by totally distorting the bottle image in the offer, but we must respect the producer's privacy, especially when most places are flogging this for $20+. As with all Mystery buys, you will receive the normally labelled wine and this is available in dozen lots only. Load up and have a great weekend!'

Dan's have 2012 St Henri in 6s @ $71.20 at moment - I can get 18% off that via WISH/CR bringing it down to $58.39 bott - how is that looking?

St Henri.JPG

And it is now back up at $71.20 again - less 17% WISH/CR ~$59.09 - I think I might pull the trigger this time - what you think Ralphy? Tommy?

Edit: I couldn't wait for Ralphy and Tommy to get their minds out of neutral so I pulled the trigger - net result 12botts Total = $854.40 less $84.44 WISH = $768.96 less 7% CR $59.81 = Net Cost $709.15 = ~$59.10 - happy with that.

Yippee. SMS just arrived to say my local BWS has the order. Might crack one over the weekend (or even tonight)

I weakened and have bought through Cellarmasters again - its been a couple of years since they stuffed up (by not crediting my QF bonus points on purchases). But 25% off + $50 back from Amex

Re: Winestar mystery wine

Bought the Redmans recently as it was a wine I courted my wife of 30+ years, we were drinking the claret in those days and loved it. The Shiraz is basic wine barely worth the $11.50.

I picked mine up on Tuesday. Verry happy to grab the Perrier Jouet before it mysteriously vanished from the website.

Okay, I'll bite on this one. But also it is misleading (in a different way to Dr Ralph's):

The second 6 in brackets should surely read 12...

No, I think it means the online offer is $139 for the six pack, but if you went in store it would be $264...

we may have found something medical here. Is qf-wp colour blind and didn't distinguish between the red-online offer 139 and the black-264.93? We could be onto something. I don't know whether qf has had some recent dodgy wine but could it be that thelight shiraz was misconstrued as an aged hunter Semillon? Of course not, just Friday funnies time.
