Hi Everyone,

I'm in the process of organizing with a travel agent Qantas flights to Europe early next year. I usually book flights myself but I'm doing an open-jaw ticket which always seems to be easier though an agent.
I was excited that if I register before purchase I'll get two lounge invitations pre-flight compliments of Westpac (we are flying premium which doesn't include the lounge).
I've discovered though that these passes only appear to be valid if you purchase the flights direct with Qantas.

Does anyone think this is worth following up with Qantas on this since I will be using the credit card to purchase the Qantas flights?
Has anyone run into this issue before?

Thanks in advance.

I think thats a credit card issuer problem not a Qantas problem (ie the bank issues tha passes). If you need QF spend to trigger the passes, I'd suggest buying a $50 voucher from Qantas.

Thanks for the reply! I just looked at the terms to see if it would work. Doesn't look like it :(
"To be eligible for the two complimentary Qantas Club Lounge invitations, you must first register and then use your Altitude Black Card in Australia to purchase selected Qantas products and services directly with Qantas.
Selected Qantas products and services are the following items purchased directly from Qantas: Qantas passenger flights (with a QF flight number), Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club membership joining and annual fees. Excludes Jetstar, Qantas Holidays, Qantas branded non-airfare products and any Qantas products and services not purchased directly from Qantas.
You’ll receive these Qantas Lounge invitations each year following that year’s first purchase on selected Qantas products and services".

QF voucher purchase always works as they cannot differentiate the spend. It is processed exactly the same as a flight.

Paying a $1.01+ carbon offset will trigger the free flight for an Amex Ultimate - may be worth trying it for the lounge passes on your Altitude Black (if you try - please report back)

The taxes/fuel fine on a reward booking will also do.
