Yes (offered Gold), but when I rang them - they happily told me that since I had applied via the link - 40k points and the $10 fee still applied (+ $10 join Qantas fee). Happy - spent the $500+ to trigger (earn rate is poor).

Overnight, my application status in NetBank changed to "Approved"...... but with a credit limit of $4000, so it sounds like a Gold card (at best) for me too. (I applied for the Platinum minimum of $6000).

But if they still give me 40,000 points, I can live with that. Hopefully it'll arrive in time to take advantage of some of the current Amex Connect offers. :)

I just applied for this as i'll be going overseas for 6 months and want to make use of the free insurance. Was conditional approved pending the submission of two payslips. Was given a 10K credit limit, surprising since I'm a casual at a supermarket who earns $600 a week.

I earn what I consider a reasonable amount, own the house, no debts, and a reasonable sum sitting in the bank..... just not CommBank. :p

What probably counted against me is the combined credit limits of my current collection of cards. Playing the sign-up points game hasn't done my credit rating any favours. :D

Time to cancel some i think Colin. I just put my Pestwac Black through the shredder 12 months after sign up. Definitely wasn't getting enough use out of it to justify the fee. I'm interested in a cba card as we have the wealth mortgage package but no card (yet). Will probably let this one slide and wait for the next round. I've left it till the end of the offer period and quite frankly can't be bothered mucking around for qff points which i would probably end up gifting to a relative anyway.

Had my card in the mail on Friday, Platinum as applied for. Just called them to opt in for the QF programme, so all set now.

Also, good to see that all the Amex Connect offers are available for this card as well (i.e. $10 off at Woolies, $5 off at 7-Eleven, $40 off at DJ Online), which I had already redeemed with my other Amex. Additional $55 value for me as I can easily make use of those three offers.

My current collection is.....

Citibank Signature Visa - no annual fee, good points earn rate for a non-Amex, some other pluses - it's a keeper.

Bankwest (or is that Wankbest?) Platinum Zero - no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees - another keeper, although it could be argued that the extra points for fx spend on the Citibank Signature make up for the fx fee.

Amex Platinum Edge - annual fee (but the free flight won't be wasted), very good points earn rate, Amex offers - keeping it too.

Amex Qantas Discovery - no annual fee, bonus points on Qantas spend, Amex offers - I could live without it if it came to that, but it'd only free up a $2000 credit limit.

NAB Qantas Platinum - making the most of this one until the annual fee is due next year.

Virgin Money Visa - still in the signup points harvesting phase. They're even giving me an extra point per dollar on next month's spending.

CommBank (Gold?) Awards - I'll be taking the signup points and running. Other than Amex offers, it has no redeeming features.

Even though the Liquorland offer says that it excludes gift card purchases, four out of four have got me a $15 statement credit so far, so there's another one for you. :)

Also had no issue. I think these promos just look at the merchant name that you're using - I doubt they've got the facility to actually see what you're buying

Has anybody got their bonus 40k points yet? If you have, how long did it take after you made your $500+ spend for the points to be credited.

It's been almost 2 months for me now, and still no bonus points to be seen (I have got the points from the transactions). I rang CommBank to make sure I was part of the 40k points deal and they confirmed I would be getting the bonus points, but could not give me any idea when they might be credited.

Did you recieve any 'bonus' with your first statement?

Myself: spent so and so $, recieved around 22k in comm bank rewards (not ff related), which was a bonus 20k, plus spending.

Transfer rate of yuk = 8k or so credited to qff.

** Comment 96 up in thread it has my exact points amount transferred after conversion / question **

Will soon be into my 2nd bill, which I expect between 3 - 4 months.

No bonus points here - not that I'm surprised. A statement was issued for both (wife & I) cards about a week after activation and second statement is 2 weeks away. We called to activate the cards and phone staff couldn't check if we were part of the promotion. They could only say, "if you applied via the link, you will receive the points."

No bonus points :( instead I was charged the $65 fee for the awards card  despite going into the branch upon activation and being told I wouldnt... Guess I'll be on the phone tomorrow

Card fee SHOULD be refunded within 1 or 2 months. It says that in the rules.

Hi Flying Fox, just wondering how long it took for your spend points to land? I starting spending 16 days ago and met minimum spend 10 days ago but no points have been transferred to my QFF account, where as with ANZ, my spend points land in a day or two.

Just a bit concerned because the $10 Qantas opt-in hasn't been charged to the card either.. I phoned up and was told it can take months to be charged but am not too confident with that response and think that maybe I haven't been opted-in.

Would appreciate your insight!

The $10 opt-in fee appeared on my account the day after I called 131661 to opt in.

If you follow the Awards link in NetBank, do you see?....

Check the fine print about the length of cover. I once relied on cc insurance for a long trip. Luckily nothing happened, because when I got back I realised that the cc insurance had run out about halfway through the trip.

Just wondering, I never rely on cc insurance just because I'm not comfortable with it so I don't look at it closely, but will this cc cover such a long period of time away?

Up to 6 months cover with the Platinum card. Note that cover needs to be "Activated" prior to travel. I do like this step as it alerts the bank your banking activity and that you receive a physical certificate/acknowledgement of insurance.

Get cover in three easy steps:

  1. Activate via NetBank
Log on to NetBank to register your travel plans and activate your insurance.
  2. Add optional extras
Extend your cover by purchasing upgrade options such as increased cover for Rental vehicle excess, increased Snow cover or increased Cruise cover.^
  3. Receive your Certificate of Insurance
Your Certificate will be emailed to you with your personalised policy number and cover details.
You can also activate your cover by calling Allianz Global Assistance on 1800 837 177 or +61 7 3377 3988.

Well, that seems generous, maybe I should look more closely, and good point about alerting the bank to o/s travel.
