See message #330.

It's only 5,000 QFF points.

Not worth it for the 6 weeks wait when you can immediately go onto this new offering and get 75,000 QFF points for free!

Why not do both? They are independent of each other. You are getting 5k points for free by delaying closure of your account. The only downside is that if CBA introduce a 12mo waiting period like ANZ did, then the next application will have to wait 6 more weeks (or thereabouts)...

So 6 weeks wait to get the 5000 QFF points? And 6 weeks potentially additional before I can apply for another Cth card. Entirely unacceptable.

6 weeks is an eternity in the world of credit card churn. I'd expect to have accumulated another 50,000 points in that time.

But if you want 5,000 points go for it. It wasn't sufficient for me to keep this card open for an extra 6 weeks. And I told them exactly that when I laughed at their poor offer.

They so have a 12 month waiting period. Or at least they did during this promo when I checked.

I applied for this card in July and received the points soon after, I still have not been refunded the application fee yet though. Has anyone else not had their fee refunded?

Just a follow up. I sent a message through netbank asking when the refund would be made since it was so late I was not expecting for it to come through automatically. I received a reply promptly with attitude saying that I had applied for the card out side of the promotional period and therefore ineligible for the refund, basically saying tough cough.

I replied saying that I had applied with in the terms of the promotion and already been credited the FF points, I made a point of contacting the FOS if it wasn't resolved. Almost instantly I received a reply back from another women saying how important I was as a customer and that I would receive a phone call within the day letting me know about the outcome. I didn't receive a phone call but fortunately was credited the refund within the week. I was in a CBA branch the other day and saw on my customer profile about 5 internal messages going back and forth regarding it. Goes to show how much a three letter word makes them pull their finger out.

On another note I'm probably going to cancel the card soon since I can't justify paying the yearly fee, is there anyway of getting the yearly fee waived?

You should definitely cancel and move onto the other great offers that are out there.

I'm on my 5th card offering for 2016 so far.

I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if I can twist their arm. On another thread someone managed to get 10K points for just calling up and being asked to reconsider the cancellation at a later date.

How do you keep your credit rating in order with so many applications?

It would also be interesting to know what the actual customer retention rates are for the cards with sign up bonuses. I'm assuming the AFF and OzBargain crowd are the minority.

You can do a small number of free credit checks each year or purchase a subscription so you can more regularly check. Getting a home loan approved in the last 5 years (stuff older than 5 years drops off the credit rating) is something that can help. Always pay your bills on time etc.

If you change too many too quickly that may affect the credit rating so you need to pace yourself.

This offer of 10K points has been widely reported - but remember it's only 5,000 QFF points. I received the same offer and laughed at the person offering it. Accepting the offer meant waiting for another two billing cycles to go through before the points would post. In this time I could earn 100K+ with another two offerings from other institutions. It's just not sufficient reason to keep the card. AT 50K I would probably have accepted the offer to stay. (see message #342)

CHURN AND BURN! Banks have to learn. If they don't want to learn Ill keep taking the points.

Refinanced substantial mortgage with UBank in 2015. No problems so far. I average 12 different cards per year.

I'm sure my time will come though.

I'm happy to take 10K points for nothing :). Although I'm probably going to cut back on the applications though since I potentially will get mortgage in the next 5 years.

I've just ordered the free report from Veda. Last year I ordered it I had some muppet call me up trying to sell me the $80 upgrade. I find it laughable that they can legally sell your personal data back to you so you have the piece of mind that they have not stuffed up. If It were up to me I would make it a legal requirement for all reporting agencies to allow customers to access their own data on a live basis for free.
