Re: Citibank Signature 80k QFF signup bonus $299+$49, ends 31/03/14 [Extended - 30/04

Ansett, this happened to me as well. I refused to activate it and told them I didn't want it if they couldn't give me the signature with fixed fee and 80k points. Eventually they have come back to me and told me they will upgrade me to the signature after increasing my limit and give me all benefits. It will take a week to happen but looks like it's coming through. So if you haven't activated yet - of even if you have - fight them on it as you might get the signature in the end with all the benefits. Then cancel!!

Thanks Pablo I have given them until 9 am tomorrow to get it sorted and get me the card they told me I would be getting Sadly I have already activated the card BUT I don't take things laying down and have a reputation for winning lol

Next thing I get a call from Sh*tibank - excuse me Mr Elite - the transfer of your QFF pts rejected by Qantas - can we check your name as it appears on your QFF card - no problem - it is Mr C J Elite - oh ok - I see now where our problem is - in our system we have you as C J Elite with no Mr - I will update that right now and pts will sweep at end of next billing cycle!
Yeah, I wouldn't be settling for "wait until the next billing cycle", either. In my case, the 80,000 points have been returned to my Rewards balance but there hasn't been an attempt to sweep them to Qantas again as promised, so it's going to be another call to try and sort it out...

Cards activated and purchase made. Just got to wait for those points to appear now! :)

Step 3 completed: $9 spent and now 80,009 points are visible in the rewards section of my account.

Just need to wait for these to transfer to my QFF account and it will have been nothing but a smooth, pain free and seamless experience! Honestly!! :)

Its a pain I know but I bet you'd do it again for another 80k points!

Really, I've not had a single problem through the whole process. I completed the application and was approved in a matter of days, no supporting papers needed. Card arrived followed by pin soon thereafter. Spoke to a lady on the phone and opted into QFF programme without a drama and she confirmed the 80k join offer as soon as I'd made a transaction. Points have appeared in account and are there to be transferred in a few weeks. Only the final hurdle to jump with the transfer and I am home free.

I have not experienced any of the horror stories detailed by others!

SWMBO is up to receiving her pin with no hitches to date so hopefully another 80k follows soon!

:)

I'm hitting my head against the wall...

On the phone now for half an hour trying to activate. Initially the first person I spoke to was told to verify the Qantas points and program enroll meant. "Certainly sir"...."ok I can confirm your card has been activated. Anything else".

Great... Just what I didn't ask for.

Transferred through to somebody else who stuffs around for another half and hour and then tells me I'll need to apply again for a new credit account for the Qantas program.

Now waiting for a supervisor.

Why do we bother?

Why do we bother?
80K QFF pts for $348 = $0.00435 / pt - that's why - but I do understand the thrust of your comment.

I applied for one for Cruiserette 3 weeks ago - 3 days later they call her - she already has Select - and tell her we know who you are no need send any docs in you are approved - cards in the mail on way to you.

2 weeks go by - no sign of cards - so she calls them and inquires what's going on - they say she cannot have Signature Card but she can have some other card and they have no record of her application. After 1 hour she is off phone and asks me 'Why do we bother?' - I say because you will get 80K pts at .004535/pt that's why.

Very next day she gets another call from Citibank saying her Signature Application approved and cards on way - still have not arrived - UFB!

Yes... Good point haha.

The frustrating part is that there's no reason for them to be this incompetent.

I did manage to get the supervisor to say, twice, that $1=1.5 QFF points. And that all calls are recorded. Might be a fun fight worth having!

I really dont know why people bother with phone calls to Citibank, I've taken to putting it in writing either by the secure email channel or the complaints/feedback method.

The big advantage is that when someone calls you they actually seem to know what they are talking about and can fix your problem rather than some random poorly trained CSR who doesnt have a clue, pretty much painless. I have found the Citi staff have a wide range of capabilities/training and getting to the right person makes a HUGE difference. By phone you virtually never get someone who can help!

Yes I think you might have indicated once or twice or 1,000 times - but others might just exercise their rights to do it as Ol' Blue Eyes once sang - I did it my way! :D

Of course the recording didn't happen in this case!!!

Haha of course. He did tell me no less than 4 times "all calls are recorded" based on his claims that the other agent didn't say id need to reapply for another credit product

That is interesting, isn't it $1 - 1 QFF point? Or am I missing out???

Yes it is. That's why I asked several times and asked to make sure the call was recorded… I'm sure I won't win though!

Re: Citibank Signature 80k QFF signup bonus $299+$49, ends 31/03/14 [Extended - 30/04

My verification process was rather comical.
I'd had several missed calls, ignored the emails requesting documentation and to complicate matters, had recently changed my Aus address.
Eventually they got me on the phone, then made a three way hook-up with someone from my HR dept.
I gave my name and new address to HR who then dutifully repeated it to Citibank. Job done and the card arrived a few days later.
I did have the benefit of an existing but long-dormant Citibank account though.

If it wasn't such gross incompetence it would be comical. Anyway I wish you luck in holding them to their claim. Who knows, given their incompetence you might just get it. :p

Wooohoooo! got the points in my QFF account. Now to pay it off (like others) and call to cancel :)

Re: Citibank Signature 80k QFF signup bonus $299+$49, ends 31/03/14 [Extended - 30/04

Just wondering what reason you tell them when you ring up and cancel a credit card within a month or so?

Re: Citibank Signature 80k QFF signup bonus $299+$49, ends 31/03/14 [Extended - 30/04

Lodge a complaint about something (not hard to find something with Citi...) and ask for something as compensation (fee waiver, bonus points etc). If they say no, tell them that's why you're canceling. If they say yes, double win.

Actually, while Credit Providers will ask for a reason, you dont need one beyond "I dont want the card any more, thank you". Plenty of possibly reasons though, annual fee too high, other cards earn better, customer service is poor ...
