Citibank Reward Points to QFF

I also received the letter with the $19 dollar offer to be able to transfer points directly to qantas. It also mentioned the annual fee. I rang citibank and was assured the it was a standard letter sent out to all platinum card holders with or without the annual fee. The said that if you have the no annual fee for ever card you will still not have to pay one now, only the $19 per year. I hope that is right knowing the mixed info you can get from Citi. I accepted the offer, but if they try and charge me the annual fee I will close the account straight away. I will update here if that should happen in the future.

I wonder if citibank will keep the 10K min points in place along side with the 'direct sweep'. Meaning it's a direct sweep so long as you have 10K points....

Nope. They will direct sweep each month, however many are there.

No, it's a requirement of QFF that the direct sweep cards transfer every month, regardless of how many or how few points there are.

I still haven't receive any letter from Citibank, does it mean I am excluded?? please advice.

I've had platinum for 5 years and only just received the letter last week.
I only just put my QF# into my citibank account the week prior though...

may be some connection...

Mine is a Citibank Platinum (Upgrade from fee free Gold). Due to my curiousty, i've called the card centre, and ask if I'm excluded in this change, the girl on the call centre said I gotta pay $19 to opt-in the program for a year, or otherwise, I can only transfer my points to other existing reward partners.

I only use my points for QFF since I got any cards. However, I wonder if I can get the $19 waived if I attempt to close my card. Anyone tried that yet? please advice if it works. I have extremely good record, pay off my bill in full each month, would they consider that?

I too was going to try and get the $19 waived. Perhaps the fee is there to discourage people from using QF transfers?

The bank might see that as a bad record since they don't make any interest charges off you ;)

My friends who don't pay their balances off have had much higher and plentiful limit increases than myself (paying it off monthly).

I called up but could not get the $19 charge waieved. Anyone has any luck to have this waieved?

I have a Citi Gold fee-free-for-life card with 7000 points sitting there doing SFA. I want to transfer them to QFF, and remain in the program.

Here's yesterdays mindless experience with Gwen at the Citibank call centre in Manila.

Gold and Silver cards are locked out of the QFF program. Only Platinum cards ($250 annually plus $19 annually) are eligible for direct sweep of points to QFF.

Citi would not upgrade my card to Platinum unless I pay $250 + $19. Citi would not budge or negotiate (I guess that's what impending bankruptcy does).

Here's today's experience with Janet at the Citibank call centre in Manila. This time I went to SALES, rather than the EXISTING CARDHOLDER centre. I mentioned I was thinking about upgrading to a Platinum, and had previously been offered this upgrade fee-free.

It went like a charm, and was approved immediately, and with only the annual $19 QFF sweep fee to pay. I can live with that.

I hope this is useful for anyone with a Gold card wanting to remain in the QFF program. Its now beer o'clock.

Cheers

Whilst it may be worth trying to get the $19 fee waived, it is such a small amount would it really be a deal breaker?

I wasnt going to bother, its only $19.
If you are on the free plat card then $19 is noting when you look at the proce of other direct sweep cards.

My understanding was that if you opt-in to the QFF direct scheme by 31 Mar, you can elect to have your outstanding reward points transferred. If you opt-in afterwards the points will expire.

Just to follow this up.
I called citibank up today to enroll into direct sweep and the person i was speaking to confirmed that all outstanding points will be automatically transferred to qantas once enrolled into citi qantas rewards.

Hmm it will be interesting to see if they really do give it to you for free.
Wait and see what the letter says with your new card :)

Has anyone figured out where the points activity page is on their site????

I can see the redemption activity page. BUt nothing showing how many points and when were earned.

My last statement (3/3/09) says one thing and the Rewards site balance on the top right says another.

I am sitting on 7154 balance (according to the rewards site) and am trying to figure out when the points are earned - when the statement is issued or when the payment is received by Citi?

I have transferred the bulk of my points to QFF and was waiting for the reminder to reach the 10k threshhold to transfer the rest - but have no way of knowing whether that will happen before 30 March.

Haven't quite convinced myself of the value of the $19 additional fee (I am on the no fee for life Plat) for diretc sweep to QFF - my typical spend is approx $3k per month. SO at 1c per point that's worth around $360 (or more if points spent on upgrades and J/F fares) - so I guess it's a good deal but how does it compare to spending on other rewarsd partners (eg SQ or the rebate towards travel purchased).

Are there others out there who are not opting for the direct sweep for $19 from Par 1?

I also assume that if one is not happy with the direct sweep option after the first year one can unenroll and not pay the $19 fee and go back to the standard Citi Rewards program?

The points are typically added on as the transactions hit the account. It is most likely that the number of points on the rewards site will be the total on your last statement + the points from any transaction that has hot your card since then (less any redemption).

Have you got Janet's direct number?

I have also been knocked back on the fee-free Platinum upgrade after myself deciding that there was no need to bother when the card turned up in the mail last year. I have since resorted to applying independently for a new Plat card with the first year's fee waived ... so that gives me a year to keep ringing Citibank until I find Janet and get the fee-free-for-life Plat upgrade. The $19 is worth it and I will transfer my Gold points across so that they all get swept to QFF.

Trouble is .... now that I have a Plat Mastercard and Gold Visa will there be any issues with upgrading the Visa to Platinum as well? Do they care how many Citibank cards you have (apart from the usual credit checks)?

Hi Moody

Sorry, mate I don't have Janet's direct number...and I don't want it either. I have enough problems when I come back from BKK each year...

If its of any use, I called Sales at approx 18:30

I neglected to mention that Gwen (employee-of-the-month) would not give any ground on the QFF points either. She said that Gold and Silver cards were not eligible to partake in the transfer, and I would forfeit all my points unless I paid the full price for a Platinum card...end of story.

I'll let you know how this pans out.

Cheers
Bush.

Were you actually offered the upgrade previously, or had you just told them that you had?

Hi Beardoc

I was previously offered the free upgrade to Platinum in September 2008, and let it slip because I didn't trust Citi. I suspected there would be some fine-print escape route for them.

Citi acknowledged the previous offer, and after checking with management re-offered it on the spot.
