Re: CitiBusiness Gold update

Was worth the effort for you in the long run, I do not have the time to play silly games with this mob, bonus points or not... Perhaps one day I will change my mind
I really don't have the time either - but it really pisses me off when these upstarts say NO to me when I can get an earn out of it - it became a matter of principle to me in the end - as is the final upgrade to Citi Select which I do want eventually - so I will persue this vigorously until I get there.

Cruiser. I applied for citi business gold a few weeks ago and received rejection letter yesterday.

Hadn't even received a call and hadn't had a chance to send anything through although they would of had all my info from the platinum application.

Unsure how you managed to succeed as I also can have my accounts team verify everything.

I must be on some blacklist??

60k posted to QFF in a separate transaction but at the same time as the first months points, on the day of monthly billing for me. One happy camper here!

Hope the others having success getting their 60k.

Just checked my citibank rewards account online and the 60k points had gone. Being Citibank I feared the worst but a quick check on Qantas and they have appeared in my QF account. Pretty good result after they said I would have to wait until the end of the next billing cycle. $125 for 60k points and a balance transfer rate of 1.9% on my $50k limit straight into the mortgage is a decent return.

Free to check your credit file if you have time to wait, otherwise you may wish to do like many of us here and sign up for My Veda Alert. This way you get an express copy of your entire credit file + an email notigfication with details when anything is added to your credit file.

here is a link to the "free" option http://www.vedaadvantage.com/personal/mcf/my-credit-file-standard.dot

iti hate me, but only because I am self employed....squeaky clean credit file and good disposable income

Is just an added extra to the 60k points. Did a balance transfer from the citibank card to another credit card that has a zero balance so putting it $50k in credit in my case. Take out the $50k as a cash advance (no interest to pay as account is in credit) and stick it on the line of credit mortgage account. Effective mortgage rate reduced from 6.74% to 1.9% on $50k. Have also done the same with NAB 0% offer recently. Just need to keep track of things and satisfy the bank that you are not money laundering if they query things.

hmm... Applied for the Citi Plat under the 50k offer and was sent an unrequested Gold card instead (didn't activate). Applied again under this offer as the terms & conditions looking promising, and this time I was sent a Silver card. Given my income increased $5k between the applications, the downgrade indicates Citi's pretty on top of my reason for applying. Little worrying for future churning potential.

Not sure about this. I did the same as you, went for Plat, got Gold, but also had a similar experience with AMEX. Went for a couple of direct AMEX cards in the space of a few months and was declined all of them. At the time, also went for a couple of co-branded Amex cards and was successful, went for another pick at Amex, failed, now even co-branded Amex don't like me - I'm not convinced its an income thing, should be sufficient of that, card limits are generally low (which was my mistake with the Citi Plat, too little limit asked for and wasn't successful).

I think you have to wait a while, maybe 6 months or so, before trying for extra goodies with the same institution.

Went to apply for the 50k one ending 30 June. There was no option to select Qantas rewards program, only Citi Rewards. Figured i should call tomorrow to see whats up with that

You have to add the Qantas rewards when you activate the card. They then tell you it will take approx 3 days to add the Qantas option so you can't use the card straight away. Very inconvenient, but you put up with it for the bonus points.

It should be realised that the banks don't know all your credit history with other organisations and there is pretty limited information currently on your credit file. But they do know that people in debt trouble start to shop around for credit so multiple applications by someone in a short time IS on your credit file and does attract their attention and is a common cause for rejects. Each bank has their own policy but yes it is likely you would be in a better position in 6 months.

Note though that for organisations you have dealt with before they are more likely to rely on the payment history of products you have held with them (even in some cases if you cancelled a few years ago) than your credit file.

It's something like after 3 credit applications (showing up on Veda) in the past 6 months you will start to get auto-declined.

Additionally, if you've been declined by a provider once you pretty much get auto-declined if you apply again within a 6 month period as I experienced with AMEX several years ago.

Yes that is what I am led to believe also.

BUT

3 times Citi declined my Citi Plat application then OK'ed my CitiBusiness gold application.

If you do have a faultless credit history - keep trying - many times justice will prevail.

My ol' mate Joe Morgan the pilot on the Welshpool - Snake Island cattle drives favourite saying was - 'Patience, Perserverance and a Pound of Butter and you can **** a Tomcat".

Banks are kinda like Tomcats don't you think? Mean, nasty undesireable entities but we kinda need them to perpetuate the financial system.

does anyone know how long your credit card application stays open with citibank if they have requested you to send in proof of income docs but you havent had a chance to getting around to doing so yet?

In my small experience with Citi they don't seem to care. They asked me for a whole bunch of proofs which took me a couple of days to think about but in the meantime I simply got 'approved' (for a Gold). Citi seems to have sub divided their operation to the point whereby the left hand doesn't have a clue what the right hand is doing and doesn't care either.

Grrrrrr! Dollar points made it over - but 60,000 neat left behind. When I phoned I was put on hold for a few minutes while the issue was "clarified", then told it was because the bonus points had not been made by the cut-off, but that they would indeed be credited on the next cycle.

Not a drama for me as I don't need them yet, but still sounds like a steaming load...

At least they are stil there, and headed in the right direction.

Hi

After an application process that was beyond farcical, I finally received my Citibank platinum visa and signed up for the QFF rewards. Once I'd confirmed the relevant QFF details had appeared on the internet banking site in the 'rewards section', I made several purchases. No points have posted as yet.

I was told my billing month ends on the 16th....I assume both the 60,000 points plus monthly spend points won't post until approx 16th of July?

Has anyone been told that Citibank only transfer points in 10,000 blocks? One Customer service rep told me this was the case though I cannot find any reference to this in any of Citibank's conditions online or what we received in the mail...hopefully it is BS as I'd be a bit annoyed if it takes several months for the points to post.

This is the case for the CitiBusiness Gold Card; not sure about the Platinum.
