Death by a Thousand Cuts
Issue 1 – Priority Pass changes
I used to get great value out of the unlimited Priority Pass — basically doing a lounge/pub crawl in BNE/SYD/MEL on both departure and arrival. The comms around the changeover (around 1 July 2025) were a mess. I was away that weekend for the Wallabies v Lions and the PP app still showed “unlimited visits”. Then on the Tuesday, I saw a bunch of visits deducted. Citi’s communication was so poor I couldn’t tell if I was grandfathered into the old plan or not. I complained through the online portal and eventually got some cash compensation.
Issue 2 – Luxury Escapes “4th night free”
The T&Cs were written terribly. I booked three rooms for extended family (two same type, one different) — they only applied the benefit to two rooms. Citi support had no idea what the policy was and even refunded the wrong amount. After more back-and-forth, they eventually paid the rest and a little more.
Issue 3 – Points transfer partners removed
Now the latest: from 16 Nov 2025, Cathay, Etihad, KrisFlyer and Qatar will no longer be transfer partners. This was literally the main reason I held the card. No direct email, just a small note buried in the online portal.
I’ll be cancelling once my December trip is done (for the insurance cover) and after I use my last two PP visits.
