Is it? I check it out occasionally and it seems fine for purpose. If a jaded lounge user is looking for an alternative, it seems to provide them. If a jaded lounge user is looking for an alternative that might not be listed, bad luck?
 
Cards are irrelevant to check in and the topic at hand. All the check in people should be across, or be able to direct you on, is your lounge entitlement based on your cabin class or status. That's all.

Leave out the cards, is the check-in agent expected to brief me on the location and facilities of the 10 lounges I would be entitled to at HKG if I was travelling in J on QF so I can pick the most appropriate for my specific needs?

The issue is, that the previous page that existed in the months before the current version of the lounge page was introduced* comprehensively listed all lounge options at each port showing what was available and what airlines one needed to be flying, what status and/or class of service to access them. This was especially useful for those non *O third party lounges that some *O airlines employ.

Much of this information is no longer available.

I can tell you now that JL in Melbourne directs all it's lounge eligible passengers to (i think the Maharaba lounge), and nowhere else. This is due to costs.
The check-in staff honestly wouldn't have a clue, nor care that they could access any other OW lounge in MEL. Their jobs is to provide the information that their client wants them to give out. In this case JL giving out information to Swissport (aerocare) staff.
OW Emerald passengers can obviously go to the QF First Lounge, but are not necessarily directed to go there.

A case in point is the oneworld website lists the JAS Premier Lounge as QF's lounge in Jakarta (Lounge Access | oneworld) but the QF website correctly (somewhat oddly) lists the Plaza Premium lounge (Lounge Access | oneworld).

Ok, accepted. But does that make the site hopelessly out of date? And for the ā€˜jadedā€™ lounge user, does it make any difference? Third party lounges are rarely eligible for lounge hopping. A CX OWE may not have access to Plaza Premium for example just because QF uses it.
 
So where do you draw the line... are the outsourced check-in staff also expected to keep tabs on:

Guesting entitlements?
Qantas Club member eligibility for each lounge?
Opening hours of each lounge? (the NRT CX lounge closes ~2 hours prior to QF80 by the way)
Eligibility on codeshares? (eg QF80 is also sold as FJ5339)

Keep in mind these staff may be dealing with multiple airlines and FFPs each day - I think expecting them to be across every possible permutation is unreasonable.

I guess carrying a copy of the Tā€™s & Cā€™s on you is the best option
 
I've never been in the QF lounge at HKG. Why would I when there are so many [better] CX options - particularly the case for WP/P1/OWE... These tiers should be told thos at checkin.

The one case quoted by danger may not, but put together with the many other omissions, yes it is inaccurate. Use it by all means, but it simply won't give you all the options. It used to (or very close to it).

SIN QF lounge is decent, if not always packed. Once the FLounge opens, things should be better.

HKG QF lounge looks like a corridor.

Iā€™m pretty lucky I suppose because the only time I really use the QF SIN lounge is before QF72 these days and it is generally fairly quiet. Starts to fill up just before we head off as a rule.
As a unwashed OWS I will just have to settle for watching you thumb your noses at us as you glide on by to your new F palace :p

The level of hate criticism will be in proportion to whether Qantas delivers on its hype for the lounge. They do do First lounges rather well, so I'd be surprised if there was more than nit-picking, at least at the start.
 
At BKK now awaiting a QF flight and the agent brandished a terminal map saying what time the lounges opened and that I may wish to use the CX lounge, which was what I was going do anyway. Somewhat grateful for the service which is above what I was expecting. I've previously had (in AUS) questions about whether I knew where the lounges which I usually know about - appreciated nonetheless.

Sadly in Y... should have paid for a flexi fare and applied for an upgrade.

Also discovered BKK authorities seem to only provide fast path to J and F - status pax no longer.

The fast track signs say for "senior passengers" as well.... :cool:
