Cashrewards should be renamed Norewards

I turned to CashRewards after an average experience with PricePal and even worse with Qwibble. So far it seems to be the best of the three at paying up although the liquor stores are still the biggest problem.

This thread reminded me to log in and see if I had any payments available. Looks like a Luxury Escapes booking has already cleared even though the trip isnt until October...

Thanks for the feedback. Cashwards is definitely not perfect and I've missed getting a lot of payments from them and it's impossible to convince them of their mistakes. But I do occasionally get something from them.

Has everybody else been getting regular Cashrewards emails about different promos. I'm glad I cashed out and am only keeping it open for possible use in the future. It is nice to forcefully press "delete" every time I get another email. Barely even skim to see who and what's on offer

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

They sent me a survey today so I gave them both barrels where space allowed.

Absolutely stupid questions requiring 5 responses - so I ticked all the bad ones even if they really didn’t warrant.

Didn’t bother about entering the draw to win anything - I don’t use them any more.

You can't buy discounted coles cards from cashrewards, but they are available at some places including AGL rewards and Entertainment book rewards.

But if you can get hold of them it's just like buying the WISH cards. IE the discount is instant.

I usually buy Wish Gift Cards from CashRewards with my Platinum Edge and get 3 ppd. Does anyone know if purchasing Coles Gift Cards from AGL Rewards give 3ppd or the standard 2ppd ?

Don't know but you could try buying one card and see what happens or ask about this in the thread for this card.

Should have written 1ppd not 2.
I have a professional association where I get 5% off Coles with no credit card surcharge. Just weighing up the options but it may be too coughbersome to switch funds around

I'm starting to agree with the OP. I've just had a claim rejected by Cashrewards for falling outside the 60 day claim period. I admit the purchase was made on 19 February which does indeed fall outside the 60 day period, but life got in the way and besides I didn't feel compelled to religiously follow up on it since I got the confirmation 'Cashrewards your sale tracked from eBay Australia' e-mail that you get when everything has worked as its supposed to.

I've never had to question or manually claim a purchase before for which the confirmation e-mail has been received within a couple of days of the purchase being made. This is my first where Cashrewards have acknowledge receipt of tracking information about the purchase but have then subsequently refused to follow through that process and rebate the customer.

Even when shown and given a copy of their own e-mail to prove they did track the purchase and presumably got paid for it, their customer service just keep responding robotically with 'our terms & conditions state 60 days…"

Given this new level of poor reliability, I think it's time to conclude that Cashrewards is not something that needs to be relied upon on any special attention paid to when purchasing. If it works of its own accord, then bonus, but if it doesn't, then not worth the time following up on.

If one was cynical (and I am about this business now having not dealt with them subsequently), one could surmise that's exactly how they make money...

You have proof (like I did) that they were tracking it - should be end of story. Rebate manually calculated and paid.

I had to resort to a social media campaign to shame them...it worked eventually, but I spent a lot more in my time than what I got back (eventually).

Well I'm thoroughly fed up with this mob. Each and every time I'd had a claim for a stay at the Hilton, it never just posts. Each time I need to wait 95 days and go through the same rubbish each time.

Latest incident I had 5 night at the Conrad in Singapore. First two booked under MrsDaver6 and last three for me. Both the same rate type, ie flexible. Both tracked under my CR account. Usually nonsense of following it up. No problem with the first two nights but the second claim for the last three rejected. Initially told it was booked under a rate that doesn't qualify. Absolute rubbish. Same rate I've always used and same as the first two nights, so I queried this.

Then told the decision is final by the hotel and nothing they can do. Then this, which I found rather insulting as I know a thing or two about how the internet, web sites and tracking work.

Unfortunately, there are many times when tracking and cookies and the nature of the internet prevent individual transactions on different days, or even the same day, from being successfully tracked and we are not able to get funds from stores for our members. When we get no funds, we do not have any funds to pass onto you.

There is no promise that everyone will receive every discount for every transaction. No matter how careful, or how much you monitor a transaction, you cannot take account the endless number of potential problems that can occur through online tracking between Cashrewards and our participating stores.

Regretfully, as mentioned, we did not receive cashback from this store for you.

We would appreciate your acceptance of this situation and are not in a position to offer cashback for declined transactions.

If the tracking failed, it wouldn't have appeared in CR, which it did. The rest they just assume I have no idea. So far none of the reasons make sense and they're hoping I just go away. However, I'm not really sure what my possible next step is here? Should I just suck it up?

Also noted that Hilton hotels have now been removed from CR.

Wipe them like a ...... (insert adjectives) @Daver6. I’m not sure what you can do other than attempt to escalate it to the owner of the site (happy to share his details with you). Alternatively, lodge complaint with relevant Ombudsman.

I’m not sure whether it’s a conscious decision by the owner to purposely obfuscate certain transactions but they lost me and I certainly will never use them again. I’ll bet they got paid by Hilton for the booking...

Please, if you wouldn't mind messaging me the details, that would be appreciated.

My suspicion is too that they got paid. The fact complete nonsense was used as an excuse makes me suspicious and an identical claim (the smaller of the two as well) was paid. Again, makes zero sense.

Sitting in MEL QP at present and may not be able to locate until Monday, when back at my office and have access to the information on my server. You know I’m not good at IT ;)

No rush. Gives me the weekend to fire up my telex machine to receive the information...or will you be using the Pony Express across the country? :)

eBay Australia have dropped them too since about November last year. You get nothing for purchases via eBay Australia anymore. That's about 95% of all the rebates I've ever had from them gone now. Pretty much pointless now.

Just a gentle reminder. Don't make me take extreme action like sending @JohnM over to give you a PERfect rant ;)

After I initially called BS on the rate reason, I got a lengthy spiel about how tracking can fail and the vagaries of the internet. When I pointed out that tracking worked just fine as it showed up and called BS on that, they have no come back to this rubbish.

I can see that Becky provided general reasons for decline however after David ran a further investigation of your cashback he could see that the HHonours has voided your eligibility for cashback in his instance.

I would like to address that the validation of cashback is run by our partnered stores and some ineligible transactions may slip through on the store's end from time to time. Please be aware that when Hilton Hotels was partnered with Cashrewards it was clear of their store page that purchases made alongside HHonours wee not eligible for cashback. From the documentation that you have provided it is clear that HHonours Gold was associated with your purchase, hence why the cashback has been declined by the store.
It is far from ideal for Cashrewards when purchases are declined for cashback, we want to get paid for sales just as much as you do. When terms have not been met our hands are tied.

Every single time I have booked I've put in my HH number and never had an issue. Booking for the first two days the same and no issue with the rate. This people are incompetent at best and thieves potentially.

What a load of BS, having status should not prevent you getting cash back.

My Hilton claim tracked with $0 credit and it took a few emails but I did eventually get my cash back.
