Having a bit of a problem,

I'm currently a Velocity member, but will be getting a credit card with the option of transferring to Qantas or Velocity, with the points ratio to Qantas much higher.

So, I decided to sign up to their program to check what their award availability is like before I decided to choose which program I'd be transferring the bonus to, and I cannot find ANY award seating on any flights (even on MEL - SYD routes).

Is this potentially because my account balance is at zero, or brand new? Has this happened to anyone else before?

Cheers!

I've checked days, weeks, months, 6 + months, everything.

I've also checked different classes, and about 10 different routes, just to see if anything would come up, with no luck at all.

Search for SYD-MEL economy awards on 7/4/19 (just picked a random day)

You should see heaps of availability like below - X is classic economy award. Domestic awards like this don't discriminate by status.

If you can't see this I think there's something wrong with your account or the way you are searching for awards.

That's strange. Looking at Qantas website, 31/10/18 SYD-MEL (and not logged in as a FF), I can see about 15 flights with economy reward seats and many more business rewards, plus a few more on Jetstar flights. What do you see on your screen?

How do you search for awards without logging in? It needs your FF login details in the search box.

There's definitely something you're doing wrong/wrong with your account.

Whilst some award flights may be difficult to get close to departure date, I've never encountered a situation where there was zero availability for MEL - SYD route.

I went the other way around: Qantas front page > search for the route & dates, and see the Economy Rewards / Business Rewards columns. If I wanted to book an award flight, then it would require me to log in to check my points balance and use points as part payment (the magic points & fees).
