New offer up to 40% bonus on purchased points.
40% bonus only applicable if buying 250K points.

So, if maximising the offer you get 350K points for $5850 or 1.67 cents / point

Mine was only up to 30%

I got the email, max bonus for me is 35%.

Annoyingly, the email says I can purchase anywhere from 10,000 to 250,000 points to get a special bonus, but when I log in, the minimum is 20k points before the bonus kicks in.

I called the member service centre and they said reds and silvers get the bonus from 10k, golds and above it only starts at 20k.

The email - which is addressed to me by name with my gold status - is wrong.
