I just don't get what's the big difference. I've been in both QP & J Lounge in Sydney & Melbourne... both when packed & empty... they seem to be much of a muchness. The food is not great in both, often both have stain ridden couches & they both can contain loud obnoxious bogans (thanks open plan design lovers!).

If you like apple cider then the J lounges in airports where they existed (MEL, SYD, BNE) used to be better, with Bulmers instead of Strongbow available. PER and ADL, which don't have J lounges, had Bulmers anyway, though.

I'm not sure if that will still be the case now, though; the PER QP has recently moved to Five Seeds, which is a shame. I'm hoping this isn't across the board and that Bulmers will still be available in the J lounges when they re open.

mrpooky.

I was in MEL on Christmas Eve and they only had Strongbow, no Bulmers. I was quite fond of it when they had it on tap :(

I wonder if the Intl F pax that are connecting onto a J (or even Y for that matter) Dom flight are being shown into the CL.

As there is no Intl Arrivals lounge (as there is in LHR and LAX) in Syd or Mel, it would be prudent to say that those pax probably deserve a slightly higher "regarded" or "comfortable" facility to use than the domestic QP....

Any thoughts or feedback on happenings?

Never heard it happening, nor would it.. the CL really doesn't exist for the masses many wouldn't know about it..

Super rare that the CL is used as an alternative lounge for general (non-CL) pax - it has happened in ADL once to my knowledge, quite some years ago.

Talk about First World problems - in Canberra QP and there is no Heineken! Bar staff said they are changing the line up - not sure if this has been mentioned before, but this is not good... (more said in jest but if it does go i will miss it ;-) )

However first visit through CBR and what a nice airport and lounge - sooooooo much cleaner and nicer than the SYD QP that I tried to fight for breakfast in this morning and then waited 10 minutes for a free toilet - ridiculous, hurry up Qantas and get the 'refreshed' Business Lounge back open (unfortunately it will not be quick enough for breakfast tomorrow morning on route to BNE :-(( )

How great is QP in CBR? Completely classy, coffee is excellent, quiet and calm. J lounge is excellent too, but QP is so good that it's barely worth the effort to walk across to J.

Shame that the J lounge in Canberra has a view of a parking lot compared to the better view in the QP

I quite like the QP in CBR.

Even though I'm SG now, I often used it when I was WP for the view.

I was in the J lounge at CBR the other month, and while it is certainly a better looking lounge than the former J lounge (in the old terminal building) the food options didn't seem to be as good as the old one (but I have only visited briefly to the new lounge so it's hard to judge).

I just don't get that the QP was given the tarmac view and the J lounge the carpark view :(.
Who's idea was that?

Upon presenting my J class boarding pass to the QP lounge in CBR, I was given a pass to use the J lounge at a later date. I mentioned that I used points to book this flight and was kindly offered a J lounge pass to use within the next six months. I was quite impressed with that! I asked for one in MEL since I was heading to PER and was told that they don't offer them!

That's a nice touch.

It is good when QF offer a bit extra when what you expect isn't available. ;)

I have always found the lounge angels in Canberra particularly friendly and welcoming (just like the rest of the city ;) )

The space J lounge is smaller than the QP and would've made for a cramped QP when full. The CL occupies a similar space as the QP to the left of the escalators, and no way would Qantas have put the CL facing the car park, *especially* in Canberra!

FWIW, the J lounge staff are quite happy for you to grab food and drink from the J lounge and move over to the QP.

Interesting they're only offering this in CBR... was certainly not offered this at BNE/MEL on any of my flights recently.
