Yep, a few showers coming through Brisbane, but mostly to the south tonight.

Yeah I had a very thorough car wash at 110km/h this afternoon, which wasn't too bad apart from the reduced visibility. I then aquaplaned home on my local streets.

Just hoping I can get from the train station to the bar (and back again) without getting soaked.

Very heavy showers (if that is what one would call torrential downpour with huge gusts of wind) in Spring Hill tonight. Did you mean south of Brisbane or south of Redcliffe? ;)

The radar was showing the main path was south of Brisbane and giving the Gold Coast a good drenching.

More to the north of Brisbane today. Redcliffe to Caloundra is getting plenty of the wet stuff right now.

We might actually get to officially declare the drought over before the end of the week. Average dam levels in SE Qld are officially 58.96 as of this morning. Bur the burst water main in the western suburbs may be draining Wivenhoe as fast as the rain is filling it . Need to cross the magic 60% before they declare the drought over. But some places like Toowoomba are still in a desperate state of water shortage.

You mean the same coots that thought that they could rely on rainwater solely and thought that recycled water was a cough (no pun intended) idea?

Well, I am a doubtful starter for tomorrow night - if I can make it it will probably only be for a beer or two and will have to leave by 6pm. The joys of the run up to 30 June (and having a fear-fuueled run up to the Budget which was good for my income but not my sleep), together with going to CNS on Friday for a 10 day mini-holiday.

NM, it's bucketing down (and has been all night) here and as you know, I'm not south... I'm sure Cabbage Tree Creek will have overflowed it's banks when I check it in about 6 hours walking my dogs - it was about a metre short before the rains tonight.

The "south" rain was last night, not tonight. Today ist been more to the north. And more buckets planned for tomorrow so you walk may be wet on top of the head as well as below the knees ;).

Right now the radar is showing steady rain from OOL up to MCY and a little beyond. Its to wet to go check the rain gauge right now. Will report on its progress sometime tomorrow (oops, later today ).

Sounds like Friday is a good time to be heading to CNS then :)
Probably. Just checked and we have just over 100mm today (well Tuesday). Supposed to be heavier tomorrow (Wednesday) with string winds. And heavier again on Thursday, continuing until Saturday with just a few showers on Sunday. So lots more wet stuff to come.

Great, I'm sure that my house and our new work abode (on 1st floor) will weather the storm (so to speak), unlike the ground floor of latter which flooded yesterday and I fear will have again when I get there in about 7 hours

Hmm, only 1st floor office? Is that going to be high enough to weather this rain? I am sure I saw a bearded gentleman gathering lots of animals and taking them to a big boat last week? Hmm, day 3 now, only 37 to go .

Not sure if you saw what I posted on FT about rain in Cairns for the weekend. :(

Cairns Thursday Fine
Cairns Friday Fine
Cairns Saturday Fine
Cairns Sunday Chance of rain.

As someone as said: cough :-|

Seems like the forecasters can't make there minds. Saturday is now fine, Sunday chance of rain and Monday will be rain. But check again in a day and it will probably be different.

Brisbane is still wet though.

Had a phone call from straitman as he sat in MEL QP with mrs straitman
- he wanted to know what the weather was like. Told him to expect turbulence from about mid north coast NSW to and includign final approach into BNE. Has only just stopped raining in the last 30 minutes.

Looks like he needs a lift from the Conrad to the event tonight, so I'll take an early mark and swing by and pick them up, we'll be there around 5pm. Looks like mrs straitman is coming - they have to eat out somewhere tonight.

Also mentioned it to IainF and he may seing by on his way home, he'd be likely to be there at 5pm as well.

Sure enough, it had broken it's banks last night in the park between Hamilton Road and Beckett Road. The flow in the culvert under Beckett Road was awesome - up from nothing two days ago, to about 3.5 metres high and 15 metres wide this morning.
