Brisbane Drinks 20 May 2009

The Brisbane Drinks night will definitely be in Brisbane. The Victorians have ambushed this thread trying to establish their own drinks nights.
...
The original title of this thread was "Brisane Drinks 20 May 2009" [sic] ... I edited it at BB's request.

It is not a duel nor a competition as the 2 cities are so far apart it is impossible to compete. Also Melbourne is ~3 times the size of Brisbane and I do not believe the Melbourne drinks night will be successful as they do not have the organisational skills of the Brisbane drinks night regulars. ...
No duel; problem is I no longer have work releated bi monthly trips to the sunshone state ...

L/W used to often arrange drinks in Melbourne when he came down ...

Very true, I haven't been to MEL since late last year and my trips in 2008 were reduced nights than previously, so I haven't been able to organise.

Nope, it's still shining today :)

Careful JohnK or my lack of organisational skill could loose all you details and payments for Oz Fest :!: :D :D :D
Considering where you live my guess is you are not likely to be organising Melbourne drinks nor attend on a regular basis.

Also need to keep in mind that the number of people interested in attending regular events is very small. There are 4 regulars that have attended most Brisbane drinks nights and Mal and I are the only ones to have attended all of them. Mal not sure if have you missed any! We have done very well to get this far but may struggle in the next couple of months. More details to follow....

Well there you go. So my typing is not perfect....

Does not say much for Melbournians if a Brisbanite travels down there to organise drinks....

Mal not sure if have you missed any!

I missed one of the 'extraordinary' Brisbane drinks, plus have missed ones that others have organised.

Anat0l has been to all but 2 or 3 I think, and Bundy Bear has also been to most.

So you now call Brisbane home :!:
No Sydney is my home but I also have a home, OK apartment, in Brisbane. I think that makes me at least an honourary Brisbanite.

Not the same as a Brisbanite going down to Melbourne for a few days work and organising drinks. What was that saying? Ohh, "Shame, shame, shame"....

.... or for Brisbanites if a Sydneysider organises Bris(b)ane drinks :!:
So it's a Sydneysider who is a part time honourary Brisbanite organising the Brisbane drinks.

I get it now.

You are right though :!: "Shame, shame, shame".... is appropriate  :p

I don't think you got it at all. Stop stirring. At the moment I spend more time in Brisbane thanI do in Sydney so I can call both places home.

For the record there will also be a Brisbane AFL night organised sometime in June/July. I would like to see the Melbournians come up with something similar. Yes you heard it here first in the Brisbane drinks thread....

When I read that, I thought serfty was trying to give a bad imitation of him coming from Fountain Lakes. :p

It was actually a typo but I let it stand as a monument to the past tense and the fact it's been P1ssing down up there this year - not much Sun to speak of at all. :p

BTW, the first K&K series thay lived in Patterson Lakes and the butcher shop was (supposedly) at Fountain gate - real places (although they filmed at Southland for Fountain Gate. FWIW, I live in Patterson Lakes)

Well I think its obvious that you aren't a real "Brisbanite" because if you were, you'd call yourself a Brisvegan :D

And gosh I do think I'm finally going to be able to make the May drinks, please put me down as a yes :)

Because you are causng me undue stress and it is not something I need right now.

I cannot stand Brisbane being referred to as BrisVegas and do not understand why people perservere calling it that name. There is not even a slight resemblance between the 2 cities apart from both being big country towns except Las Vegas has nightlife which is lacking in Brisbane.

Looking forward to it....

Ah well I think "Brisbanite" is just such a clumsy word!

Looking forward to it....
