Boris Johnson diagnosed with COVID-19

What a load of rubbish all this is.he was moved to ICU which meant his condition was serious.
Astute observers of the photo on his admission could note the cyanosis-so the only bit of the story that is possibly true was re his condition on admission. But again mild cases of Covid 19 are not admitted to hospital.
He looked rubbish on his interviews prior to admission. I mentioned at home that in each interview he was doing he looked progressively worse which suggests that he'd passed the 'get better' stage and wasn't. I wonder if his admission and treatment will change his thoughts about the National Health Service because successive Governments haven't treated it with much respect.

The ABC has been saying for a number of days that it believed his illness had been deliberately downplayed in press releases.

That article is nearly a week old, hadn't been updated and is really only conjecture.

I did get the following from it though:
He is not the deputy prime minister as it would be in Australia, but rather the First Secretary of State.

Regardless, he can make decisions on Mr Johnson's behalf, including on security and the coronavirus response.
Based on that there is a defined backup for the PM in UK politics.
