I never realised how important this information was until I read here.

Anyway, what is the booking class for a QF economy domestic award flight and a flybuys QF domestic flight.

The ultimate QF guide suggests it is T and X for economy - award. Is this correct? Would it include a flybuys award?

I also see that QF have stop giving out U availablility info. Does anyone know if they also block availablity for T and X.

Finally, does amadeus keep past booking info available? or would my booking info drop out once I take a flight?

T is now used for international premium economy. (Since late last year)

One can now only check for U by doing a "Dummy" Award Booking. X is sometimes available.

The Amadeus info become unavailable to C/M/T a short time after the last segment is taken.

Ok thanks for the info.

I'm trying to get a classic award domestic economy flight for the mother in law. There are seats available doing a dummy booking.

But she is also going to take her mother aby geting an award from flybuys.

Normally, I would book 2 seat one way using a QF award and 2 seats return using the flybuys. But flybuys only does return flights, apparently.

Hence trying to find out the booking class so I can get some idea of availablity before trying to book. Since X is only sometimes available does that mean award flights book into another class like N. Or X is the award class but that that they only sometimes show availablity.

Sorry if I'm being thick on this.

By Flybuys, do you mean that low rewards scheme (with the ugly green card) or Frequent Flyers, as in Qantas' FF scheme?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I mean flybuys as in ugly blue green card and coles supermarkets.

I basically have no idea about flybuys - I don't use it. The in-laws do and I'm trying to coordinate getting a FF award seat with them getting a flybuys seat.

Anyway, they tell me that flybuys just buy a fare on the flights and there is no availability problems. (I'm not sure about it but I'm not aruging with the in-laws) So it seems I was worried about nothing.

I'm just going to book the FF flight and they can will request the same. Sorted.

Thanks everyone for your help

I don't know what bucket FlyBuys awards come out of, but would be a little surprised if it was the FF redemption buckets.

Back in the late 90's I used upgrade certs to travel J MEL-BNE-MEL on a FlyBuys redemption.

So if nothing has changed, I doubt it's an award bucket. Note that Upgrade awards were available for any publically available domestic revenue economy booking until May 2005.

FlyBuys buy their tickets from Qantas and have much better availability than Qantas frequent flyers. And their booking service is a breeze to deal with.

Ok terrific, thanks for the info.

Bit of an update, everthing is worked out and the flights have been booked.

Thanks everyone for the help and advice

What booking class did they get? I am sure we are all curious!

They have enough Flybuys points for 2 economy seats? Man that is one big family and a helluva lot of shopping....

I can't cope with the suspense - can we please please have the booking class!

I thought I was the only one :)

HOw'd it be if the flybuys system is running behind the changes and the system purchases R class :p

Only one flybuys seat. I donated my QF points for the other seat.

They had to spend 42500 flybuys points for the 1 seat. I suspect my father in law is quite diligent in getting all the bonus offers. Here's always telling me about "buy 3 mouse traps and get 100 points".

Plus my wife and her siblings have all been given flybuys cards....

I see them on Sunday so you'll have to wait until then for the booking class. But based on the other advice here I reckon it'll be like N or something.

I can now confirm the flybuys flight is N class.

Manage my booking on the QF site is showing a price about the same as for the red-edeals on the route. But they paid about $40 more in taxes than I paid for a QF award.

That would be the GST component for the fare. There is no GST charged on the points part of a QFF award redemption. There is on the fare component of a revenue domestic fare.
