Book a flight and Extend Current status to 2022

But I still haven't received any status rollover credits for any of the several Qantas flights I've taken in last 12 months so they aren't doing well for me right now.
The rollover credits have the same trigger as the extension - booking that flight after 23 Nov

If you meet the condition/trigger to get the extension, then you also get the rollover of your earned status credit during the past membership year, even those earned before 23 nov, to the max of 500 for WP, and excludint those boost and support bonus. Essentially, if you conclvince Qantas to extend your WP status, then its probably a good idea to immediatly ask for the rollover too.

The status rollover was a bit confusing. The trigger was booking that flight after 23 Nov. If you did trigger it, it included all eligible status credits from your membership year.

In the end, it will be the same problem that stopped your extension from happening.

I can't believe I made a classic newbie error here! Oh well, I am in no position to achieve WP in the forseeable well, infinity so I'm actually starting to laugh at my numpty mistake. Too much on my mind currently.
 
If they had said PNR creation date in their blurb I may have twigged but they didn't mention PNR
They never do, it normally is worded like 'make and new booking from' (or words to that effect), others have come unstuck over this minor detail across a wide range of offers and promotions. You are not the first and will certainly not the last.

I've been there before on more than one occasion with DSC offers.

The critical point for DSCs is that you make a new booking during the "booking period" for a flight within the appropriate travel period. The QF IT system uses the PNR creation date as @Matt_01 noted above. So when you make a new booking within the correct booking period but pay with a Gift Voucher, the QF system sees the booking as having been made when the PNR (for the Gift Voucher) was created and if this date is outside the booking period it doesn't apply the DSCs. This has happened to me on at least 6 occasions.

On each occasion I have rung QF and pointed out that the booking was made between the correct dates and the flight dates met the T&Cs. I also point out that the issue is that I paid with a Gift Voucher and that there is nothing in the T&Cs that prevented me using that payment method. The CSO has always awarded the DSCs manually without question.

Edit: However, for the status extension offer, the T&Cs included this clause as noted by @sudoer in post #4:

Eligible bookings can be paid with cash, Qantas TravelPass, Qantas Flight Credit, or with Qantas Points (via a Classic Flight Reward or Points Plus Pay).

Note that it doesn't specifically mention Gift Vouchers or Gift Cards. If you don't get a good outcome you could try to argue that the Gift Voucher/Card is the same as a Flight Credit but you may be out of luck. No harm in trying.

I get the impression that it would take several phone calls and many follow ups to get the SCs under this type of scenario.

After checking the T&Cs I've edited my post above in relation to the status extension in consideration of this clause:

'Eligible bookings can be paid with cash, Qantas TravelPass, Qantas Flight Credit, or with Qantas Points (via a Classic Flight Reward or Points Plus Pay).'

In relation to DSC offers, I don't remember any having similar clauses. So in relation to getting the DSCs, the answer is no, I've never had any pushback. On a couple of occasions they have taken the time to think through the issue and to check the T&Cs but nothing of any consequence.

However, as noted in the edit to my earlier post, for this offer it specifically states which payment methods are acceptable.

Not related to GV or credits just a tip for all QF promotions. The booking system works in GMT/UTC and QF often advertises promotions based on a start date in AEST or AEDT, for one of DSCs promotions (2017 from memory) I started booking on the first day early around 8 am AEST. In the booking engine these were recorded as been booked at around 22:00 on the day prior. It did take a number of calls and each booking had to be dealt with separately however the DSCs were credited. These days any promotion QF runs I only booking after the start date/time has past midnight in GMT/UTC.

I think the most recent DSC promo might have only been released after midnight GMT/UTC, which would be an improvement compared with the past.
 
Ahyes the old GMT /UTC issue. Has reared its head before.

I usually wait till the first afternoon of such promos to be sure to avoid that little one.

You'd think after all these years the programmers would account for that..... but well it is QF Consistently Inconsistent(tm)

Did anyone with an April expiry book their flight for later in the year and successfully receive the status extension?

I would like to extend with this offer and May is rapidly disappearing! (and I live ~250km from a Qantas serviced airport for context)

I was thinking of booking one of the "half price flights" for later in the year. If I do not end up being able to take it, I could just not show up and I was thinking it would be a relatively cheap way of maintaining P.
I will most likely have more free time again later in the year, but not certain of the dates.

I have also thought of booking a classic flight reward or other refundable fair that could be cancelled, but feel that is against the spirit of the whole offer.
 
If you fail to take the booked flight they could rescind the extended status. You need to book the flight and take it unless QF cancels it (e.g. due to state border closures).

Thankyou, that is my thinking and interpretation of the conditions, however I did wonder so long as I had paid they may not care if I actually travelled...

If this is your intention, may I suggest booking a Qantas international classic flight reward which is unlikely to actually fly, such as SYD-HND 1 Nov for 31k points + $171 taxes. Two possible scenarios:

Scenario 1: Qantas cancel the flight, which they will probably be forced to given Japan's very poor vaccination progress. You will get a full refund of points & taxes PLUS retain Platinum as it was an involuntary cancellation.

Scenario 2: Flight looks like it will operate, you cancel on day of departure per the Fly Flexible terms and get a full refund of points & taxes.

As @mviy states, a voluntary cancellation would give Qantas reason to rescind your status extension. For this you might want to book a random intrastate domestic award after 1 Nov which you can fly in case of scenario 2, or cancel with no penalty if scenario 1 eventuates.

I probaly need to just take a couple of days and go somewhere close prior to the end of month. At least it is done then.
 
Does anyone have any insights/intel etc what Qantas might consider with people who have their status expiring/status anniversary in early January 2022 where the status extension discussed in this thread doesn’t apply anymore.

My QF year literally ends in the first week of January 2022 (😢😢😢) and given the current developments I am convinced that I can’t get the missing 280 SC points together to retain Gold in early Jan 2022 (unless there is a super generous DSC campaign coming).

I re-qualified in Jan 2020 by myself due to the travel done in Jan - March 2019 but currently not doing any travel for (intl.) work. Is it likely that I end in the bad luck corner and get downgraded to Bronze?
 
QF does soft landings, so Gold would drop back to Silver.

I would think that if QF is forced to push back international flights restarting again they’ll have to do something but they may/may not.
