Book a flight and Extend Current status to 2022

I'm just annoyed I'd already booked a flight, and don't want to stuff around with cancelling and rebooking. Wont be flying again till after bub, so will just have to sneak one in before the end of June. I've already requalified, but Id like the rollover.

...and furthermore that flight might not even qualify as one squiggle (as it could be a classic reward)
Classic Reward Flights do count for the squiggles. I did a Canberra-Ballina return on points in Oct, and as it went via Sydney I had four different QF flight numbers and that counted as four eligible flights/squiggles

I haven't flown with QF since Feb so it's possible that this has changed and I missed it, but it certainly used to be the case that Classic Rewards did not count. Is this maybe something to do with Points Club? I know you can now earn SCs with Classic Rewards (at a reduced rate) if you have Points Club status (but not otherwise), so perhaps the same is true for eligible flights?

I suspect if SC's are earned, it is an eligible flight, so counts toward the 'four'.

I too was initially worried about the four flights/squiggles. I read through their definition of eligible flights from the link on my Profile Page, which just said it had to be flights with a QF flight number. Although on another page their T&C's says that Classic Reward Flights don't count - so go figure.
But after the run to Ballina and back, in my profile it said that "Eligible flights goal achieved". Maybe as each leg was on a Dash 8 they took pity on me.

That could be it. I am a Points Club member, and got 7 SCs for each leg, which might be the reason they were "eligible flights".

Yeah I think it must be down to Points Club. As far as I can tell, the default position is still that Classic Rewards don't count. Good to know though.

It's definitely a Points Club thing, but we should limit discussion about it if we want it to stay this way.

I wouldn't worry. Here:
It states:

How can I earn Status Credits with Points Club and do they count towards Status, Bonuses and Rewards?

As a Points Club member, you can enjoy earning Status Credits on Qantas marketed Classic Flight Rewards. Status Credits earned via Classic Flight Reward bookings will contribute to your status, Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus and lifetime tiers.
"Status Credits earned via Classic Flight Reward bookings will contribute to your status" - a "squiggle" flight is essential for status so such contribution flows on from that.

The T&C's state Points Club status unlocks additional benefits.

Don’t think the T&Cs say points club members’ flights are squiggle flights. While they now acknowledge that points club members can earn SCs,
20.1.5 The travel required in each Membership Year to attain or retain Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One tier must include a minimum of four Eligible Flight Segments where Qantas, QantasLink or a Jetstar Airline is the Marketing Carrier. Classic Flight Rewards do not count towards the four required Eligible Flight Segments.
For this promo answer is also unclear, but it’s a variant of the issue I raised above. [BTW no response yet from QFF] The promo is clear that the SC requirement will be waived for eligible members that book and fly a segment according to the conditions of the offer. Apart from the opening puffery (?) about “all you need to do is book a flight” the offer terms are silent on the four squiggles. Question is whether they will also waive the four squiggle flights requirement, and if so it wouldn’t seem to matter if the magic flight is an award or a revenue flight.

BTW Don’t think it is a real issue, if they argue down the track that you have to meet the four squiggle requirement as well as the book a magic flight requirement the original offer would be misleading/deceptive.

While my plan is to try to maximise my rollover, so will more than likely get the four squiggles, I don't think it matters whether you get the squiggles or not. Make the qualifying booking, and the extension is yours.

Hi all, just to confirm that the Status Extension and the Status rollover are mutually exclusive? I.e. that if you, say for example make June 30 2021 with 600 SC as SG, status extension won't kick in as you've already qualified but you will still receive 250 SC come July 2021, assuming qualifying flight? (or 350 SC with PC plus?)
I have read the whole post and it looks like this has been tacitly confirmed just want 100% as I'd hate to qualify without needing status extension and then miss out on SC rollover and start the next year on 0 SC!

I wouldn't say they are mutually exclusive - the requirements for each are the same. Make an eligible booking, then both will apply. If you happen to renew Gold anyway, that won't affect the rollover.

Yep. No ambiguity about this one.
Who’s eligible to have the Status Credit rollover?
Qantas Frequent Flyers who hold Platinum One, Platinum, Gold and Silver status with a status end date between 31 March 2021 and 31 December 2021 who book an eligible flight for travel before the end of 2021.

I've got a couple of questions about my QFF status with all the extensions and so on. I'm SG with anniversary 31 March. In APR-MAR 19/20 I requalified for gold, so my status end date was now MAR 2021, so the status extension earlier this year had no benefit for me unfortunately.

I haven't been able to fly this year due to Covid lockdowns etc, so the only SCs I've obtained are the 300 I've received from the status boost, and 100 I've received from the status support (April-September). So I'm currently sitting at 410 out of 600SC (10 from signing up for BP).

Now with this new status extension, if I book a flight before March 31 2021 for travel before December 2021, my gold status will be extended through to March 31 2022, and I can rollover a maximum of 250 SC to my APR-MAR 2021/2022 membership year.

With regards to the status rollover, my understanding is that the 400SC of status boost and status support won't rollover, and that apart from lifetime accumulation or if I got platinum (not gonna happen lol), these are pretty much redundant. Is that correct?

My second question is also about the rollover. I have a whole bunch of flight credits with DSC attached to them from the DSC offer earlier this year, which have to be flown rebooked and flown before 14 Feb 2021 to retain the DSC. My understanding is that any flights using these vouchers, the base SCs would rollover (up to a max of 250), but the bonus SCs would not rollover. Is that correct?

If that's the case I'm not sure if it's worth me flying now just to hold on to the DSC, and maybe instead use the flight vouchers later in my APR-MAR 2021/2022 membership year, towards trying to retain gold for the following year. But before I made any decisions I wanted to make sure I'm interpreting my position correctly.

Yes your understanding is correct. Bonus SC's will not rollover and only SC's you earn from now (well November 23rd or whenever it was announced) till March 31 will rollover but not bonuses. The ones you already have from the boost won't).

Thanks Richard. Was afraid of that, but oh well.

I think you are right on all points. Happy to be corrected

No point saving DSC flight credits as they don’t extend past rollover period. But it might be worth it to save DSC Travel Money to after the rollover period

Yeah I think so too.

Have just fired off an email to frequent_flyer@. Enough experience of being stung by ambivalent promises and ambiguous contracts in the past to be wary. The big promises and the fine print are not of course a contract and I am probably overthinking as Olivia's big promise email is plain on its face and would be hard to wriggle out of and tacky to even try. Will advise result if I get any.
