I've removed some of the details as requested by the individual who asked me to post; the general outline is this:
-Card issuer approved credit card, but had a delayed delivery (greater than the duration when required spend was to be made)
-Required spend for promotion was made within 3 weeks of card delivery
-Date of receiving card was greater than the exclusion clause duration at application, but date of application/approval was less than exclusion clause duration
-Bonus points not granted
-Matter referred to AFCA
-Requested original points bonus, plus a 5 figure points compensation, plus cash compensation of low 4 figures (including annual fee refund)
-Issuer replies stating that approval date is considered the opening date and account is ineligible for bonus
-Written terms only refer to opening date (and no other date) to consider eligibility
-Issuer offers a gesture of goodwill to finalise the AFCA complaint
-This is a total 6 figure points compensation, which includes the original bonus, plus an additional (but lesser than requested) amount
-No cash compensation was offered
-No opportunity for negotiation
-Case has not yet proceeded to AFCA case management
AFCA fees the issuer will incur, if it goes to case management would be (inc GST):
Registration and Referral $109.51
Case Management $2,548.04

If you read between the lines, there may be something the card issuers are not willing to admit.
What would you do?
Accept or fight/stick it to them?
