Just got this on email this morning:

Join the elite
Achieve Silver status in just 3 stays or 8 nights,
instead of the usual 4 stays or 10 nights.

Stays you've already enjoyed this year and until the end of the year will count toward getting this quick upgrade. As a Silver guest, you'll get benefits like free health club access and elite-only rewards.

From reading additional T&C's on website and email, this is only available to targeted members and once you qualify silver status will hold until March 2012.

Not a bad little offer considering I only need two more stays to qualify, and can easily do those in Perth, and a nice earner during the Q3 double base option (or what's left of the same promo in Q2 for that matter).

You save one stay or 2 nights off the normal criteria.

Yawn. But I guess congrats for getting targeted.

There are Gold fast tracks out there which require the same number of stays and/or nights as a vanilla Silver qualification.

FWIW, I was comped Silver in 2005 at my request merely due to WP status.

Later on that year after around 10 stays they straight out comped me HHonors gold.

Since than I have earned Gold every year.

There is still the MVP 4 stay for Gold promotion.

Perth can be a good place to get some stays in, especially when they have the Friday night offers, which can be had for $80 a night sometimes.

My Adelaide stay returned me to silver, and now I need two more stays by the end of June to get gold :)

This offer does not sound so wonderful when there are offers around such as 7 stays or 15 nights for Diamond. (also targeted)

Then again, every little bit counts.

Although an offer such as 7 days for diamond is not terribly useful for someone who was not targetted!

What are you discussing? A Hotel promo???

Really, what is the difference between silver and blue? I have dropped back to silver from gold (with a 4 stay promo to regain, only 1 more stay to go), and I in the three stays as a silver, I am struggling to see if there is any advantage to being silver compared to being blue or indeed a non HHonors member (the Hhonors points bonus is trivial).

I guess it is one more shiny bit of plastic.;)

The 15% points bonus is about it.

I got this offer also from my other old account. Currently Gold VIP and still need 8000 base points to regain Gold. So no use for me, and the offer is not that attractive anyway .....

.... and seerrffty, please learn to spell my name :!: :p

He might be hinting at your lack of humour. Since you're the straitman then SWMBO must be the lead comic :p
