Good luck. Strongly recommend you keep a record of everything and be prepared to fight.

Sounds like another card that requires a lot of phone calls, energy and headache just to get the points. It is way too much hassle these days. When are they going to improve their processes and IT systems?

On the other hand, Qantas Ultimate American Express is the most generous of all, in complete contrast. Points are given even if you already have existing Amex cards, may or may not check your income, points posted very quickly and you don't have to yell at the CSR to chase the points. That is surely the best deal for Qantas points:

perhaps, but fees for your suggested card are extreme.

Not really, the annual fee actually includes a free Qantas domestic return flight. That covers a lot of the annual fee anyway. Then they give you 80K Qantas points very quickly.

Perth residents would get most values but even eastern state residents can still utilise the domestic return flight.

I mean, you still pay $160 annual fee for the 50K Qantas points for the Bankwest card, then you have to keep calling them and yell at CSR to chase points. Why bother the headaches, like what you had for Citibank?

Whilst Amex has high surcharges for merchants, I always find Amex card the most generous card for me on bonuses as well as all those regular cash back promos.

I have the Velocity Amex and was considering that one, but the complimentary flight options from Townsville are worse on the qantas card compared to the velocity, also the fees (as mentioned) are higher, having said that though, once I hand back the velocity card this is one on the list to get

The 50,000 points have posted no problems for me. Noticed yesterday that they'd shown up in my ff account. Took 3 weeks or so to show up since they were indicated as awarded on my previous BW statement. So yeah, no problems or complaints from me. Now time to cancel the card.

Applied online and was only approved for gold, I used the chat function and they called me back and re-submitted my application and was approved for Plat with a 6k limit which is just fine for me.
Now that is more than enough credit card apps for me for a long while.

FYI: A similar deal now seems to be available:

Frequent Flyer Credit Cards – Bankwest Qantas MasterCard®

Doesn't appear to exclude people that had the card previously and cancelled.

Although inconsistent information is presented in the T & C.

Compare:

Bonus points are subject to change. Bonus Qantas Points will be transferred to your account within four months of account opening. '

Has anyone made the minimum spend paying Bpay bills and received the sign-on bonus?

Seems to be an "eligible purchase" that pays points, so I can't see why not, but it is Bankwest, so I thought I'd check. At only 0.75 pts/$, I don't want to put more through the card than necessary to get the bonus.

I am the same, I haven't started using it yet, but I will put all of my expenses (except food/restaurants- Amex) through this card until I've hit the min spend, and then I will most likley cancel considering I already have a card that pays 1pts/$1

Good strategy. There aren't sufficient compelling reasons to keep this card after getting the bonus - which you should expect will take the full 4 months.

Cancel as soon as possible to enable opportunities to get onto other concurrent deals.

I know a number of users have had bad experiences with this card however I personally think the insurance and no forex fees, combined with the points earn (albeit low) make it worth considering holding if it suits your spending patterns.

YMMV, of course.

I Had not considered the no Forex fees, I will take that into consideration once I've got the bonus points I guess and weigh up the pros and cons before cancelling.

I have decided to take it up, on the basis of no forex fees on top of the QF pts. Got an online approval straight away, so waiting for the formal confirmation. Like others I will put everything through it to reach the spend, and then see how much i want to use it while in OZ. Plan to use it on my foreign trips primarily.

Did anyone have issues with this card posting points earnt on normal spending in the first few months?

I've had 2 statements issued now which have recorded points that have accrued, but none have been transferred over to QF.

An agent on the online chat claims that after 4 months the bonus will post and all points will transfer over on a monthly basis from then on, but that seems a bit odd to me. I checked and they do have my correct QFF# on file.

I found the first statement was a dummy statement that kicked off the account.

To quote their website:

"Qantas Points, including any bonus points on your Qantas Gold or Qantas Classic MasterCard, will only be transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer Account at the end of the 2 month period from account opening and once you have spent at least $1,500 on eligible purchases. "

So on this basis, if you have clocked up 3 statement periods including the first very short one, and have completed the spend requirements, you are due for the points. I will be at that point this week myself.
