BA executive club or qantas frequent flyer program?

Good evening! I would like your advice about which of the two frequent flyer programs i must choose (i am a member in both). I am flying with Ba and qantas in April-May. I am going from Athens to London with a return flight operated by BA and a multi city trip from London to Wellington, Sydney,Melbourne and back to London with Qantas. It is my first time to fly with these airlines so i haven't collected any points yet on either frequent flyer programs. Since i live in Greece, i consider it more possible to fly again with BA (or one other European One World partner) rather than with Qantas in the future. So i would like to tell me what is the best for me to do: collect all points in Ba executive club, all points in qantas frequent flyer program or in both frequent flyer programs, depending on which airline the flight is operated by?

Since i live in Greece, i consider it more possible to fly again with BA (or one other European One World partner) rather than with Qantas in the future.

I would say credit your mileage to BA, then. As you point out, there are many more earning and redeeming opportunities in Europe with them than with QF.

You should also look at the American airlines program-Aadvantage.often much better redemption value for the points you earn and since the recent agreement you can upgrade TATL flights on BA and IB with Aadvantage points.Also the earning of AA points on BA has become more generous.
But beware of the booking class you are in-not all classes earn for all OW FF programs.

thanks for your answer. in both flights i travel in economy class. the fare class is euro traveller in ba and q deal in qantas. i know that i will collect 2988 miles and 40 tier points with my ba flights in ba frequent flyer program and

26,750 miles with my qantas flights in qantas frequent flyer program. but i don't know how many miles i will collect if i fly with qantas using ba frequent flyer program? i wonder what is best. to collect them in my ba program and spend them with ba or collect them with qantas and spend them with ba (or one world partner other than qantas), assuming that if i use ba frequent flyer in qantas flights i will probably collect less miles than the ​

thanks for your answer. since i don't know how many miles i will earn with ba, i am wondering if it is better to collect them in qf and spend them in ba (probably i will collect less miles in ba rather than in qf, since i will fly with qantas)

If you have a Q class fare on QF then Aadvantage is out as it doesn't earn miles-

It depends on your preference:

If you want some status to make you oneworld trips:
Hard on both QF and BA when you travel in cheap Economy classes.
If you travel in Business you get a status quite easy in both programs.
Be careful BA-Sliver = QF-Gold!

Advantage of QF: They have a lifetime status, but it is a very long way.

You may top up your Status points by cheap C flights form ATH with BA and Malev!

If you are into points, you may look at AA.

Advantage for QF: 1000 Minimum Miles for short QF-Flights.
I like the any seat award and points+pay
Disadvantage of QF: Awards are very expensive.

If you are into status remember, that you need 4 Segments on your home carrier with BA and QF (not enforced with AA).

I (based in MUC) stay with QF as
- I fly Business and get a Status quite easy
- Lifetime Status

If you want to make your journey more comfortable you should look at the QF-Club. You just pay the fee and you have lounge-acces to QF, BA and AA lounges. So for your flights with BA to LHR it may be quite useful.

With the recent changes (oct 2010) BA flights earn 100% mileage even in discount economy (like AA), but being based in Europe you will also have the shortcut to status with BA. Only 400 Tier Credits to Silver (OW Sapphire), 800 to Gold (OW Emerald).

Once you have status on BA, the status bonuses are generous too: 100% mileage bonus on BA flights (including BA codeshares on QF).

The 1000 mile minimum on QF only applies on QF,not on European carriers(BA, AF, MA). On discount Y on BA, QF earns 125 miles (25% of 500) minimum per sector.

Then of course there's redemption....
