Australian state border restrictions

News reporting that most of the planes passengers recently put into quarantine in Qld will be released as now only casual contacts.

Wonder which important person was on board

Or did they finally realise they cannot possibly have the resources to enforce this so you may as well make the rules somewhat reasonable so people will actually follow them of their own volition...

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

What I hear from those caught up in those situations (like the flight messes) is that they are waiting a couple of days, doing a couple of tests then bang that’s it they are back out the door and on with their lives. I’m seeing very low compliance now and as you point out it’s because grandma is triple vaxxed and the whole family is done and is fine to carry on per normal with the person affected.

I appreciate I’m seeing all this across all walks of life in my role and perhaps AFF members are a more compliant cohort in general - but I can say with great confidence the amount of people following the rules (to the letter) now is much much much lower than even a couple of months ago.

People are making their own judgement calls now.

The public has done its side of the bargain - time for stupid state leaders and CHO's and their cohorts to keep their end of the bargain.

Given the messaging around Day 5 tests for visitors to QLD, thought I’d share the wording from the Border Pass about what you’re required to agree toView attachment 267108
I hope they have testing centers in all the tourist spots, ie multiple in GC, Cairns waterfront etc, I'll obviously as all tick the YES box on our trip in Feb, but I won't be taking a $50+ one-way taxi to get to a testing site. Yes $100 may be small cost of total trip, but with a load of ppl in line, warm day, We're hardly keen on half a day of that nonsense...after being triple vax by then.

If it’s not practical…. ;) (or even possible!)…

Still none at all in Port Douglas

The risk of travelling gets worse by the day, in terms of being forced into HQ for being on a flight with a positive, not being able to get tested and possibly being prevented from flying home.

Why would you be prevented from flying home if it’s clearly not possible to get a test?

I am so glad that we cancelled our trip to Hamilton Island over Xmas and New Year. I can see us either locking up in separate hotel quarantine, or everyone having a super long wait for the only testing centre on the island ......

The risk is related to in bound flight, if someone on the flight up subsequently tests positive, right now Qld Health are forcing everyone else on the flight into 14 days iso regardless of vax status or test result (a test mind you you can even get).

So then leaving on day 7 to board a flight to SYD, is breaching ISO and means lying to QF about not being the subject of a health order. But since flew QF on the way up, they will know that you were a passenger on an impacted flight and might not let you board.

There are multiple risks to manage, when in reality we should be letting omicron rip and not worrying about contact, only illness and hopsitlisations.

QLD backflipped on that this morning

For some passengers only, what if you end up still being a close contact because you were 1-2 rows away from an infected unvaccinated minor? Then you are still in 14 days iso despite testing negative.

Qld is not living with covid.

Not completely! Those seated around the infectious passenger have to isolate for 14 days. Should simply be negative tests - time to live with COVID and not put up with the constant fear cough.

There are no leaders amongst them. Only politicians who happened to be in charge of their party.

If the passenger loads go away, will the jets even fly?

Let me just say this, on this particular worry specifically… I think you are putting far too much stock in;
a) Qantas or any airline even giving a toss and
b) QLD Health being organised and integrated enough to link with the airlines to enable this sort of screening…. I can assure you they aren’t!

I wouldn't go to a country without hospitals... and since Queensland hospitals are for Queenslanders, that rules Queensland out for me too.

Well you could also look it like this / Queensland rules are for Queenslanders too ;) 😂

WA setting NSW back to extreme risk from 18 Dec.

Any setting apart from Very Low Risk (the only one with no isolation required) takes WA off the travel options for most.

WS clearly doesn't have any faith in their hospital system to cope with even 1 case.
