Australian state border restrictions

It's far from certain that QLD will reach 90 percent. They are only at about 85% first dose which is pathetic this far into the rollout. VIC 12-15 year-olds have higher first dose and fully vaccinated rates than QLD 16+.
Well doesn't that tell a story....

We flew some team members into Adelaide - they only had texts at the ready. But their flight wasn’t checked at all!

In the past 10 days, I've gone HBA-ADL-HBA, HBA-PER-HBA and HBA-BNE and only received a single text from Tas on 'day 3' of wherever return that was. Maybe the multiple text things are random pax selection?
I'm probably just lucky! Actually, it has eased up recently and on the routes you're flying, there should be minimal restrictions anyway.

One day open borders. Two positive cases. One deemed an old infection and the other waiting on details.

Good. Nice way to ease the shriekers into it :). Nothing too alarming.

I can understand to a degree. It's been almost six months of zero. Then within 24 hours.....

Might get the vax rate up although today we hit 79 double dose and 87 first dose. Telecon in 5 mins. It does mean a plane load is exposed though. Airport. Etc.

Second positive was a young child with vaccinated parents who drove over. Received a text message that young girl was a close contact so had her tested at Tailem Bend then travelled on to visit relatives. On the positive result they returned back to Vic to quarantine and the two relatives now in isolation. No real dramas.

I think the problem here is that with so much of the state isolated from the previous COVID hotspots, that few think that it'll come anywhere near them and why go to the trouble of travelling (distance and time) to get vaxxed. It just needs to get into a remote town and then the Government jump all over it and people are encouraged to make the decision to get vaxxed. I'm going to chat to one of the two MLA's I know (both their seats have high vax rates as I see on their FB pages).

My 12 y.o. son (the only one not double vaxxed in our household) is eligible for his second dose on Saturday. Time to get him to one of the sites.

Full arrival operation for the flight from Sydney this afternoon in to Melbourne... Completely ludicrous and ineffective. I could've shown then any QR code and they would've just waved me through. 8 staff being paid for doing literally nothing other than look funny in high vis and rearranging chairs at the gate to funnel people in to some kind of makeshift queue.

Welcome to the UK 6+ months ago.... Hint: it's long gone now.

Did they have their spacesuits on as well?

I just love those queues. You spend your entire trip keeping your distance from strangers. You pay extra to travel Business, simply to keep your distance. Arrive at the destination airport and you're herded into small spaces so that you can be shouted at by people with more PPE than brain cells. Makes sense to me!

Really? Must be random flights

Same when we arrived from Ballina yesterday. And they didn't even look at my paperwork 🤷‍♀️

Ballina has minimal covid. Perhaps they should be explaining that there’s a higher risk of getting covid in Melbourne and inviting those worried to return back to BNK.
