Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The issue identified with. 'private' QR is that these are run through third parties and these are the ones selling on the data.
Which seems highly likely but reputable venues would be horrified at the thought. A lot of venues with private QR systems do give you the option to opt into the venues mailing list - personally I don’t think this option should be displayed at all to keep the contact tracing for that explicit purpose only.

So we can be sure that Qld wont acknowledge the 28 days being met, because the link wasnt made witjin 48 hours, just as well NSW Health is persistent and doesnt give up following up after 48 hours.

The weekly reports on NSW Health website, only shows the last 4 weeks of linked and unliked cases, so there is no where official to check how many were linked outside the month via genomics etc we dotn ahve a true total easily piblically available.

The paper has forgotten the 48 hour rule to link cases lol

So despite the very positive meeting of all the CHO’s today, and the happy comments from the QLD Premier about borders, I agree with you @Lynda2475 I suspect QLD CHO will again pull out a technicality or an unannounced new rule to block the borders opening to VIC and NSW (perhaps even SA...)

Things that new rules could be made up about could include sewage (to block Sydney and Melbourne metro, even though QLD has had multiple sewage positives and no cases...) and testing rates - QLD has been unhappy with NSW’s testing rates for a while.

As per @HappyFlyerFamily comment they could also nab NSW again on the 48 hour rule....

Also.... there are now juicy rumours circulating up here in public health circles now that the QLD premier wants the borders open (!!) but the CHO does not.... and apparently there has been a falling out.... very interesting.... so perhaps the announcement in the media today was designed to put some pressure on the QLD CHO.... who knows.

Tomorrow and the next few days will be very interesting....

Nsw mystery case watch

Today’s reports indicate:
- 0 in the past 7 days
- 0 in the period 8-14 days
- 1 in the period 15-28 days
- 33 older than 28 days but since before Crossroads emerged.

Interstingly NSW health have seemingly reclassified 38 cases (From linked to mystery) yesterday. I thought it was a typo but the same data appeared today.
Initially Crossroads was a mystery case. Hence the clumsy wording.

If you look at the daily reports there is a segment on the classification (eg overseas, linked, mystery - my terminology).

You will find the day before Crossroads that mystery was 361. Til 19/11 it was largely ok report and got to 395 (so 34 in total with all the reclassification in and out). Yesterday that number jumped to 433. The added 38 came from the linked section which went down by 38 best I can tell.

Using the two week and four week live reports (ie no pdf version) to determine ages up to 28 days

NSW mystery case watch

Even though the mystery case has been reportedly resolved, it’s still showing up on the daily PDF report - still 433 mystery case total (so we might need to wait another day for the statistics to be updated). The mystery case has disappeared off the ‘live’ 4 week report.

Yup Dr Chant confirmed this today and made sure Dr Young heard it :)

Maybe the NSW Air Force can drop some leaflets over Brisbane to explain it? /s

As predicted - once VIC and NSW are open to each other the power of 15 million people - who can save Queensland’s tourism industry in the absence of international tourism - is coming to the fore.

Qld CHO was interviewed on ABC tonight, she admitted that both NSW and Vic has gone beyond 28 days wthout a mystery case but was adamant that decision couldnt be made before end of the month and that start of Dec would be absolutely earlieet for any change to border. JY wouldnt confirm that either had met all conditions, only that they were doing better.

Most NSW people will have made their xmas bookings by now and they are unlikely to include Queensland due to risk.

Hasnt stopped Queensland tourism heavily spamming me for last 3 months to book, im not silly enough to tie up funds on a holidwy there is no way to take.

Good old Facebook marketing... we’ve been running some domestic travel ads recently and they end up loaded with coughy comments stating “well not for Victorians!”. Given the target is clearly set for Sydney, I have no idea why Facebook seems to show our ads to so many people in Melbourne.

Even after borders open, my concern is that at the smallest "outbreak", possibly even if a single person tests positive, the states will slam the walls up on the borders again. National Cabinet agreed a "level" of infections per 100,000 that would warrant a border closure which the States within a couple of days all ignored when the "fake" outbreak occurred in SA. Business cannot function with that level of uncertainty. Once open, the borders need to stay open and if National Cabinet had any legitimacy it would be working on, and having the states commit to, putting protocols in place to allow that to happen. Sadly with the current imbeciles running the states 2021 is not shaping up well.

I’m looking forward to being helicoptered to quarantine when I go to Tasmania to see my parents. Guess it beats being thrown off the Ghan.

If it indeed is Dr.young that makes the decisions on exemptions then she has lost her humanity.

Indeed it’s the CHO decision by law.

A sad case indeed but from your post.

”The reason the family were in Victoria rather than Queensland was because some of his special treatment could only be delivered by a specialist in a Melbourne hospital.”

That newspaper article states that the family applied for an exemption on Friday evening and it was granted on Saturday morning ?
Tragic all around but the family weren’t easily able to commute between Melbourne where they now live and QLD where their extended family are due to the border closure to QLD from Victoria and not due to medical decisions taken about exemptions for them.

Though they had only moved to Victoria this year because their son had been transferred to the Melbourne hospital.
Their exemption was granted but to stay in a medi hotel where the rest of the family couldn't visit.

Contrast that with the process in Tasmania where I supplied letters to 4 people from Melbourne in October and the exemptions enabled them to come and isolate at their respective dying parents home-that is compassion.

Must admit the advertising for places we can't go to currently just make me wonder, why bother? Cant imagine how the Victorians dealt with all that. But they did. Kudos.

In saving humanity many politicians lost touch with their inner humanity.

I think anyone referring negatively to the Qld CHO is now being counter-productive. She has backed herself into a corner with her rules and monthly meetings. Someone close to her has to give her a pathway to change strategy and for her to save face. It is simple emotional intelligence that is now required.

Palaszczuk Leaves Door Open for Early Border Decision

NSW Premier confirms on ABC News Breakfast that the office of the QLD Premier has informed her office that there will be a border announcement this afternoon on NSW, VIC and SA borders from QLD.

By QLD’s ‘known’ rules:

- NSW (Greater Sydney) has passed 28 days no mystery cases yesterday*
- VIC hopefully hopefully will pass 28 days no cases at all on Friday
- SA has not had any mystery cases

So by our own rules our borders should:

- All of NSW should open immediately*
- All of SA should open immediately
- VIC should hopefully hopefully open from Sat

*QLD CHO invented a 48h linking rule that she could use against NSW, which could set them back approx 2 more weeks

Virgin Australia were kind enough to drop Victorians off their email list while we weren't able to travel. But I'm sick of seeing ads for NZ on the TV given they wont allow anyone in (without quarantine).
