Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

And once again NSW is open to all other states and territories (plus NZ). Last to close to Vic and first to reopeen.

If Qld stick to 28 day rule then out of the 3 locked out states, only Vic can get to 28 days by 30th Nov, so NSW and SA wont be able to go North for xmas break. There is no resource nor medical reason why Qld cant review situation weekly (or evenly daily of there are set rules rather than ever moving criteria). Monthly review is purely political.

I still see no evidence that Wa or Qld or Tas or NT have any confidence in their abilities to squash cases when they occur, since only lever they ever pull is state border closures.

The QLD 'only monthly meeting' is not due to medical advice it was admitted a few weeks ago. We clearly don't work very hard up here.... ;)

Well....there is a massive fight brewing around QLD still being closed to NSW and the Feds will wade in for sure because this broke a few minutes ago:

NSW's last case with unknown source now more than 28 days ago

NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said that with five previous coronavirus cases at Moss Vale now linked to existing cases, the last coronavirus case without a known source in the state – a person linked to the Hoxton Park cluster – was recorded on October 24 .

That means NSW has now passed Queensland's 28-day threshold for no cases linked to community transmission, which Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said would direct her decision on when to reopen the NSW-Queensland border.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said "unfortunately some state premiers are making up "the advice" as they go", noting only Queensland had adopted the 28-day standard.

1 new case in SA, family link to Parafield cluster and has been in quarantine since Monday. Has had 2 negative tests but was swabbed this morning and returned a positive test
And they are no longer going to refer to the 17? odd people as suspected.

Commissioner Grant Stevens looked like he was about to snap

He said "I have no updates on the pizza bar investigation, (forget the blokes name leading the task force) will update you later but I'll take questions"

Literally 2 seconds later, stupid reporter
"Is there any update on the pizza bar investigation."

As @Pushka says 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

From ABC News Site:

NSW has met Queensland's requirement for 28 days without an unlinked case

NSW Chief Health Office, Dr Kerry Chant says an investigation shows a link between 13 cases in Liverpool with the Moss Vale cluster.

"Therefore, that cluster is no longer unlinked," Dr Chant said.

"The last unlinked case of COVID-19 in NSW was a person who reported illness on the 24th of October and was associated with the Hoxton Park cluster."

This means NSW has met the Queensland Government's requirement of 28 days without unlinked transmission for a border reopening with Sydney.

However, the epidemiolocal link has been made weeks after the first case in Moss Vale and Queensland also requires that links between cases be made within 48 hours of first being confirmed.

Ms Berejiklian would not comment on whether she expects her Queensland counterpart Annastacia Palaszczuk to reach out today.

"Unfortunately some state premiers are making up the advice as we go," she said.

"There is absolutely nowhere I have read ... that you must identify a source of a case within 48 hours.

"So again I just ask other premiers to consider some compassion because I know when I'm visiting communities and people come up to me and burst into tears when they think about the fact that they can't visit their relatives."

So we can be sure that Qld wont acknowledge the 28 days being met, because the link wasnt made witjin 48 hours, just as well NSW Health is persistent and doesnt give up following up after 48 hours.

The weekly reports on NSW Health website, only shows the last 4 weeks of linked and unliked cases, so there is no where official to check how many were linked outside the month via genomics etc we dotn ahve a true total easily piblically available.

Oh yeah. He was so angry.

So what is the chance of people living in Tunbridge Wells being able to travel to somewhere near, um Nottingham? I think.

Ah, so that's where they are camping out. Nice enough area, be sure to visit Tap Inn at the Pantiles when you visit, went there often when I worked down that way last year. Likely to be ok for travel but only in the 'approved' window.

:) Thats a 3 hour drive. Would be considered a very long way apart in England. In Australia not so much

You'd have to be going great guns to do it in 3 hours... It's possible with very little traffic but the good old M1 is rarely a decent run ;) That being said, with slightly less cars on the road right now it's not bad and we did the journey in roughly that time a few weeks ago!

Lets all hope that in the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) meeting this afternoon we have the states calm the headless chook states QLD and WA down a bit! - all the state CHO's are getting together to discuss basically everything covid related.....

Fingers crossed.

NSW is supposed to be doing mandatory QR codes from today, living in inner Sydney it’s been standard for a while but regional NSW has a way to go.

I wish that more businesses would use the ServiceNSW app as its secure compared to every strange web service people have signed up for.

The paper has forgotten the 48 hour rule to link cases lol

True, but they pdf the daily report which give the daily total of each category, so it become a bit more apparent when mystery cases get resolved (though not necessarily which mystery case)

Update:

Appears the meeting has gone very well and that calmer minds may have helped with a couple of the worried / less prepared states.

It also looks like QLD have begun leaking out that borders to both VIC and NSW will be reopened and we may find out TOMORROW.

But lets not count our headless chooks until they have hatched :)

FINGERS CROSSED for everyone. It might be too late for QLD's tourism industries summer, but for families it will be an enormous relief.

Qld Premier hints at for early border decision tomorrow

Sydneysiders might find out when they will be let back into Queensland as early as Tuesday after NSW health authorities confirmed the southern state had gone more than a month without an unlinked case of COVID-19.

The criteria to reopen Queensland's borders has been 28 days of no new COVID diagnoses which could not be traced to another known case.

NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said the last unlinked case was on October 24, while Saturday will mark 28 days since any COVID case was diagnosed in Victoria, let alone an unlinked case.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk responded and said the health data was being "conveyed" to Queensland's chief health officer from her interstate counterparts today ahead of the monthly border review and she would provide an update on Tuesday.

Ms Palaszczuk had previously said the decision on borders would be made on November 30, but when asked if that could be brought forward given the streak of no cases in southern states, the Premier said "let's see".

"I will give you an update tomorrow," she said.

"I actually do think things are looking very positive, the most positive I have seen this year, so, look, fingers crossed if it continues that way, our roadmap says December 1, I am very encouraged that it will be a positive outcome for both NSW and Victoria."

Not so sure about secure?

Remember Service NSW was hacked earlier this year & over 180,000 peoples' full records were taken - over 700 GB of data! The State Govt waited some months before revealing this... They're progressively mailing out letters sent by Registered Mail. All up around half a million people's information may have been lost (where account holder was parent of family then all family members data was lost as well apparently).

Service NSW confirms 180,000 customers' personal details ...

@Pushka - hope there are more of these

This is what we have - I use it but refuse to use the business only ones (as there are credible reports of data being sold). More CBR business are using the official one.
.

This is the problem with the non govt ones - QR code concerns: Call for businesses to comply with guidelines

Agree that there are issues, the SNSW hack was a phishing attack through Microsoft Office 365, which worries me slightly but hopefully QR registration won’t be in peoples email, but it could be for contact tracing (think a spreadsheet).

Generally after a breach the organisation is really strict and then things gradually drop back to complacency.

The issue identified with. 'private' QR is that these are run through third parties and these are the ones selling on the data.
