Wonder if they will be named and shamed on the front page of the newspaper like the Queenslanders?

That will no doubt depend on their appearance. If it’s another two “Brighton-Le-Sands” girls then probably yes.

5 cases out of over 24,000 tests is pretty amazing really. Very interesting to note that, with cases declining rapidly, the media has suddenly lost interest in NSW. Took a lot of digging to find that figure of 5.

Yes NSW is clearly worried the wrong areas of people are being tested because they are continually trying to get more W and SW Sydney people tested.

Anyway it is probably moving round asymptomatically like everywhere. Will pop up again at some point no doubt.

Every premier said don’t march. And then every premier in every city was ignored. Marches were held in every major city.
There continues to be an accusation is that the Vic march was associated with an outbreak. (post 6456). This has been refuted/debunked.
Further, there is a continual accusation that somehow the Victorian Premier did something different to the others about a wink and a nod to the marches. But there’s never been any evidence displayed of that. If it exists it would be good to see it.
It is one thing to think that the marches should never have gone ahead and another for evidence to keep being ignored.

May not have directly caused infections but it sure sent the message that if you felt strongly enough about something then it was OK to do it. This was Australia wide. However the right to exercise, amidst the general public, even when positive, seems peculiarly limited to Victoria.

Perhaps he was advised that it was a waste of cost and time, as in NSW, thereby proving that nobody could stop those marches.

I understand that people are peeved that those matches went ahead. But it does not change the evidence that the Vic march caused an outbreak, it did not. Personally, I don’t think he was indifferent. What I saw was that he told people not to go on the March and that he would not be going.

Hmm... no attempt to get a court injunction is ample evidence of such difference.

We have been here before ... I'll replay a post of mine from July 21st:
I was just pointing out that the premier of Victoria did not sanction a march.
Correct - he did not sanction a march. But he did not effectively try to stop it either.

Bad Bad Signals ... Lock Down with Fines, Lock Down with Fines, Lock Down with Fines, Lock down but no fines¶ for Marching at an unsanctioned event.

Vic. General Public: "Ahh ... look at that ... we can get away with not locking down ..."

At least the NSW government went to court to try to stop one.

¶ Organisers got fines, easily paid for by collecting a few cents from each of the marchers.

Yes, I agree, we have had this discussion and re playing it won’t change anything. Hopefully, in a few weeks it doesn’t pop up yet again. The repetition is not actually changing anybody’s mind or changing the history or the facts.

I ignore media on the whole and just look at independent facts :)

I agree, but it’s the media who fuel public panic which manipulates government policy. It’s getting pretty frustrating!

To justify my irritation, I've been in Brisbane this week (essential specialist so I can cross the DMZ) and cannot be held responsible for my actions next time someone says “oh youse from Sydney. It’s real bad there!”

I think everything is frustrating I am totally over it. - however much as I concentrate on positive waves, things seem to stay bad :(

Naughty Sydney people, wonder if they were wearing masks

Sydney party bus operator fined $5000

A party-bus operator has been fined for allegedly breaching COVID-19 restrictions in the Sydney CBD last night.

NSW Police say officers were contacted at around 11.15pm on Saturday "due to concerns about the way a bus was being driven along Wheat Road".

"Police stopped the bus, which had been driven from Penrith to the city, and found 43 people were on board," police said.

Our SA Premier did give approval. I ranted about that here at the time.

5 more cases in NSW.

Also revealed that one of the NSW south coast clusters was seeded by a infected person travelling from Sydney (who knew they were infected) and they had a nice lunch out with a group of people.....

Wonder if they will be named and shamed on the front page of the newspaper like the Queenslanders?

It was a good headline number today. some details:

Of the five new cases reported to 8pm last night:
  • Three are linked to the Tangara School for Girls cluster
  • One, a man in his 40s form Western Sydney is locally acquired and still under investigation
  • The other is a close contact of this person
there has been decrease in total community transmission (I guess some have been linked). Now down to 17 plus 1 under investigation. Of these 17, 9 are in the past two weeks, hence 8 are older than 14 days.

a couple of phase 1 venues added, so not a beeping red alert of phase 2.

perhaps tomorrow we might see fallout from Dooley’s 2 employee that was reported yesterday.

Trial HSC exam postponed at Sydney school

A Sydney selective high school has been closed and had its trial HSC exams postponed after a student tested positive for COVID-19.
Sydney Girls High School in Moore Park announced it would be closing on Monday, after a student returned a positive test.
A scheduled HSC trial exam had been cancelled and “will be rescheduled and students notified”.
All staff and students have been advised to self-isolate while contact tracing occurs, the school said in a statement.
“The Department has been advised by NSW Health this morning that a student has tested positive for COVID-19," Sydney Girls High School said in a statement.
